I completely get that. I feel the same way. Not my preferred choice of anime but enjoyable all the same.
I'm looking forward to watching Danmachi when the season concludes, I didn't enjoy season two all that much but I'm hopeful for the new season.
Over the past few weeks/months I've watched through Assassination Classroom, Blood of Zeus and I rewatched Konosuba and finally go round to watching the OVA for it.
Not sure what I'm watching next yet 😅

I thought it was pretty good too, I don't think it was all that memorable but it was still a decent watch. I watched it dubbed and couldn't get over the fact that Heron sounds like Stephen Merchant when he shouts. It's meant to be in ancient Greece but he has the most British accent I've ever heard. I was in stitches when he was running back to the town screaming "MOTHER, MOTHER... MOTHER?! ELEEECCCTTTRRAAAAAAA".

Agreed on all accounts. Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon is back and I've been enjoying it a lot. I really like that they've moved away from straight-up harem anime with boob jokes. That's still there but I feel like they've gone in an interesting direction over the last several episodes. They definitely could build it into a really grand narrative with interesting philosophical questions.

I think there's only a few episodes left of that so I imagine I'll pick it up some time next month.
I've currently making my way through Grancrest War, I'm not sure how I feel about this one. It's been on my watch list for the longest time and I finally decided to give it a go. I was sold on the first few episodes but then the story kind of shifted and I became less interested to me. It seems like there's a handful of good episodes here and there but also some pretty dull ones too. The first couple of episodes gave me a kind of a slime isekai vibe without the humour. Theo getting crests, lands and allies seems very similar to Rimuru doing the same.

I remember Grandcrest. It picks up a bit at the end but Theo always feels super powerful compared to enemies and he will suddenly come into his own and become a major shot caller towards the end. That change is jarring. It was an interesting watch. Like it feels like there should be more politicking but more often than not something happens and then people tell you all these unforeseeable political fallouts and then eventually no one cares about them and they just start doing whatever - and it's for "good" but it sort of defeated the purpose of the politics as a constraint on power.

Pokemon is super interesting to watch. The early stuff is very different from the latter stuff. There is a point where they clearly don't know what is going on and are really inventive but before and after that they're very formulaic. Yugioh standardizes overtime and gets more like the actual card game but early on it's kind of interesting. The early manga is super good. I rewatched Digiomon awhile ago before the follow up stuff finish out. That's also a super interesting show for its time.

I've been watching the new season of AoT and it's pretty interesting so far. There's been a time jump and the episodes so far have been from the point of view of Reiner and his people. Haven't seen the main cast at all yet which is pretty refreshing. I've heard good things about what's going to happen this season so I'm excited to see how it concludes.
I just watched my way through Fire Force and Kings Avatar 2 and Grancrest War, none of which were all that exciting. Kings Avatar was probably the best of the three but it just left me wanting more which we probably won't get for at least another year or so.
Think I'm going to watch DanMachi next, I just hope it's better than season 2.

ooh, I liked Kings Avater. Have to check that out.
Hadn't heard of elaina simp. Will check that out too.
I find AoT super hard to follow at this point. Maybe I missed some OVA content or something. I read manga stuff some years ago so I know what's going on but if I hadn't I feel like I'd be completely lost.

alright, finished two shows, binged a lot of anime this week.
quintessential quintuplets was a very enjoyable light hearted romcom.
and bofuri was a fun take on the gaming/fantasy genre without being an isekai. also beautiful art & animation.
looking forward to both getting second seasonshttps://discord.gg/TvN6xUb ~ chat on discord pls.

Nice, I've watched Bofuri and found it enjoyable but I've not watched Quintessential quintuplets.
I'm currently watching through Haruhi Suzumiya and before that I was watching Akudama Drive and Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle. Akudama was really enjoyable and there were some really cool fight scenes in it. I probably wouldn't recommend Sleepy princess but it does have a pretty amusing premise.
There looks to be a tonne of decent anime airing this season after the anime draught of 2020. I'm so excited for more Log Horizon as well as the next parts of Re:zero, Promised neverland and Beastars. Plus there looks to be a load of interesting looking new ones too. Now I just have to be patient and wait for them to finish airing and not cave in like I've done with AoT this season.Last edited by Cyanoxide; 17 Jan. 2021 at 11:30pm.

I haven't watched too much lately either, still waiting on the seasons to conclude. I think there's probably another three weeks before that happens though. In the mean time I've been slowly working my way through Durarara and enjoying it quite a bit, I think I've got about 15 episodes left. I'm surprised I hadn't heard of it before to be honest. I think I may have seen the black rider a few times before but never knew what show it was from.

Yeah, I've been doing the same. Finished S1 of Jujitsu Kaisen last week and I'm working my way through Re:Zero now, both pretty decent. I'm excited to see where Jujitsu Kaisen goes in later seasons and Re:zero is doing a good job of filling in some of the gaps right now.
I'll probably watch Mushoku Tensei next. I'm excited for Log Horizon too and that would be next on my list but it means having to rewatch S2 which feels like a chore.

Yeah, they're probably doing that part 1/2 thing they love doing so much as there's only 12 episodes this "season" but it finished up last week. I've intentionally avoided looking into it so I don't really know more than that. Now I've just got to power through the season 2 rewatch 😂
I just finished Re:zero and I really pleased with how it turned out, I think it's probably my favourite isekai at this point which is quite impressive considering how many there are.
I was going to watch Mushoku Tensei or Log horizon next but after watching Re:zero, I think I'll watch something that isn't an isekai first, maybe Wonder Egg Priority.

everything this winter I've grabbed from subsplease.org
mushoku tensei first thing crossed off the list, 11 episode cours/season kinda bug me, but i get it. i put off watching re:zero for this second half to wrap.
i don't know if i even want to bring it up but the whole protagonist perversions tropes seem to really be a hot button among the comments. I like trash anime but it does take away points from an otherwise great anime.https://discord.gg/TvN6xUb ~ chat on discord pls.

I started I Was Rejected So I Shaved And Took In A High Schooler. It started out really well. Protagonist isn't interested in underage girl, keeps yelling about how much he loved big titted older women, and generally acts for the good of the teenager. It's been refreshing - but this weekend they added a new character that blackmails and attempts to rape the teenager and then they try to kind of make him likeable to add to the cast. Was rough. Hoping things turn around.

Right now I'm watching Grimgar. I'm not sure how well known it is but I had never heard of it. It's an isekai but unlike all the others, the main characters are actually super weak and clueless throughout, so it's a struggle for them to even survive in the world. It's certainly a refreshing take compared to the rest of the genre.
I've watched quite a bit recently. My binge game has been pretty strong.
Dr. stone, Horimiya, Slime Isekai, Castlevania, Mushoku Tensei, Wonder Egg.
I wouldn't say any were particularly special in all honesty. I had high hopes for Wonder Egg, Horimiya and Mushoku but they were just okay in my book. I'll probably continue watching new seasons of Mushoku but probably not the other two if they get new seasons.
I still haven't got round to watching Log Horizon, Beastars 2 or Promised Neverland. My motivation to watch them has dropped so they will likely just spend the rest of eternity sitting in my plan to watch.
As for new shows, I'm looking forward to 86, Combatants Will Be Dispatched, To Your Eternity, Tokyo Revengers and Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song.Last edited by Cyanoxide; 23 May. 2021 at 04:28pm.

i love grimgar, it really deserved another season. post-anime depression when that one ended. the art style was something special.
had a really hard time following everything that happened in the new season of re:zero, felt like so much going on.
watched the pilot of wonder egg finally, seemed good enough to continue.https://discord.gg/TvN6xUb ~ chat on discord pls.

Yeah, Grimgar was really chill. I definite have a craving for more. I googled similar shows too it but it just came up with all the generic isekai shows rather than shows that are actually similar. If you've got any recommendations, I'm all ears.
Completely agree with you on the art style too, there was a scene at the start of one of the episodes with a really nice parallax effect. It was only a second or two but I watched it a few times because it was satisfying to look at.
I finished Grimgar and then watched through Dorohedoro, I love the world building in that one but the art style is a little off putting for me, curious to know what happens next with it though.
Haven't decided what I'm going to go for next.

I can't remember if we've talked about it here or not but Overlord was pretty good.
nothing really matches the fantasy immersion that grimgar had without being totally OP main character energy.
That and log horizon were what i watched going into that show.https://discord.gg/TvN6xUb ~ chat on discord pls.
