My grandmother has an arrhythmia and a leaky valve. She's too old to have the surgery to repair either as she likely would not recover. She takes coumadin, which basically alters her blood pressure to help deal with her arrhythmia, granted they also shocked her once to get a near normal heartbeat. I don't know how similar your situation is medically but you could always ask about it as an option.
Bald is better than dead...though your hair may grow back if you ever get to stop taking the medicine.

I have inappropriate sinus tachycardia which is a type of arrhythmia. Basically my heart beats really fast, about 145 - 150bpm standing with no strain (Ie. Just standing there doing nothing) 125+ when laying down.
Though in my case my heart can hit up to 195 - 200 which is why I had to have my heart medically reset twice.
I'm not like really in danger of dying or anything but my cardiologist told me if I don't keep it in check I can really damage my heart.
Most of the time now when it bothers me it just makes it hard to breathe and makes me tired.
What I'm on is a beta blocker (lowers your blood pressure) called metoprolol. Coumadin is the brand name of the generic Warfarin which is actually a blood thinner. Which also has the side effect of hair loss, along with a whole slew of other things. I actually had it as a shot while I was the hospital to prevent a blood clot. (shit huts!) Its also/mostly used to treat certain heart disorders. I'm not sure I'd be able to take it though since its an Anticoagulant. D; I'll ask in January since I don't get on my boyfriends health insurance until then.
All hail kitty pig.
