What's up with 2012?
- 22 Dec. 2009 11:58am #2
I think there was already a thread like this. But I think that we should be taking precautions just to be safe but we shouldn't go into mass panic.
But this site explains everything you need to know about 2012.

50/50 For Both.
We Don't Know What Would Happen, The Bible Clearly Stated Theres an End of the world but it only says TIME WILL STOP. But He didnt mentioned the date.
So there shouldnt be massive earthquakes and stuff.
Only thing i can say is be careful. :]

1:49000 chance of apophis hitting us on the first pass... I beleive the odds are in our favor
I dont think itll happen. and plus , an asteroid its size, may create a decent amount of ejecta and cause the sun to be blocked in some reigons , but the time frame of which wouldnt be signifigant enough to cause any noticeable damage to flora and fauna

The end is coming
Those who don't believe so are either ignorantly stupid or misinformed. Haven't you seen the movie?

I'm sure it'll happen. Just not in the sense that everyone things. Nobody is going to die, that's for sure.
apokalupsis eschaton which literally means "revelation at the end of the æon, or age.
Not to mention, have any of you played "Telephone?" We only know of this because it's been said and passed down since they started telling people. I'm sure that by the end of the game "telephone" the story is almost the exact opposite of what it was to begin with.
nevertheless, if the story is true, the Mayans predicted an "Apocolypse" which is just a rebirth. That doesn't specifically mean we're going to die. Personally, I believe that's when everyone will realize that there is no god or religion. Or something amazing will happen.
But this whole "end of the world" shit it just...bull. e.o If the world was going to end, it'd be Armageddon.☜(* x *)☞FOOL ON COOL GENERATION

Ok, there are several traditions from around the world that point to the date, there are a handful that talk of an end but don't give a date just generic end time descriptions that seem to apply to now. But every few years we always find some reason to think the end is near.
In my opinion things are bad but they have to get a hell of a lot worse in two year for the world to end. They could but its doubtful. Admittedly there are some forces at work that could be moving us towards doom(obama among them) but based on current track records I don't think they can get their shit together enough to end the world.

- 23 Dec. 2009 04:13pm #11Incorrect... The Mayans finished the calender, it ends on December 21st 2012.
Actually that's wrong as well, it actually doesn't end then it ends in like 24th century I believe. The calender speaks of a time of discovery and a time of beautiful change for humanity, where people got this dooms day stuff is beyond me.
The mayan calender has dates after December 21st, it's just people are stupid and don't take note of them. Yes the calender technically ends then but it was designed to be the mayans calender, they want us to make our own after the 21st.
The future is not set in stone, it can be altered by decisions made here and now. That is what the Mayans believed and I hold that close to home.

Then again, people believe that the Mayans had extraterrestrial help, as well as Egyptians.
It's how they could cure themselves with special medicines.
There is also proof that both were able to perform brain surgery through a small hole in the cranium. Not even doctors today could do such a thing.
What if they were visited by extraterrestrials, who told them of the things to come?
I'm not sure I believe that the world will end in 2012, though I do believe they were visited by extraterrestrials.
I really don't care if the world ends or not, we all die in the end, right?
By the time we figure out if the world will end or not, it will already be too late to do anything major.

2012 is not the end of the world. It is the media grabbing ahold of something and blowing it out of proportion. Look at the stories that are done on over-rated celebutants that need a well aimed bullet, a story with nothing behind it that is being used to gain attention and make money.
The Mayan Calendar end of days prophecy is far-fetched at best. Look at the all of the times the world was thought to end, 2000 AD - Computer Apocalypse, 1984 AD - Astroid Crash, 1648 BC - Great Fires, 4,000,000,000 BC- Life Not forming Period. There are countless times that the world was supposed to end, and yet there is no proof of what is to happens ince the future is not planned.
And think of this, the Mayans predicted an endless future of greatness for the Mayan civilization, and yet, they thought 2 blond guys from Spain were God, and they were massacred becuase they led their destroyers to them. If they could predict the end of something, they probably should have predicted their own end.
The Calander dos not actually end, it continues from the begininning in a cycle that is never ending (or close to it). Time is never gonna end because someone says it will, it will end because of its own accord, not ours.Voted Hottest Male Member

Exactly. The after this there is supposed to be a "rebirth" at the end of the age. Nothing more. No specfifics about anyone dying or anything. This is just like the prophesies of Nostradamus. It's pretty damn easy to match up a prophesy to current times or something that's already ahppened when you give really abstract, unspecific details.

Maybe not the world ending? Perhaps.. human and animal life?

I personally don't believe it

Not likely. The end of human life will come probably through our own accord, not because of some astronomically idiotic theory that was blow out of proportion by a bunch of writers. And yet people still believe that the world is gonna end, even though the throught that it will has been disproved by NASA.
No planet is gonna crash into us, no astroid is gonna wipe us out. And animal life has a better chance of being wipe out than we do. Nothing is gonna end our life except maybe a nuclear bomb exploding, or Rosie O'Donnell getting another day-time talk show.
If life follows as projected, the end of days will not come until 3.7 billion years from now. And something tells me that we don't have trry about it.Voted Hottest Male Member

well considering that most people believe that Barrack Obam is the fucking anti-Christ, that might be a logical recourse.
Now, considering the way that Obama keeps rubbing people the wrong way, not to mention the leaders of hostile countries, we may very well be heading towards a total annihilation of our race by way of war, but then I'm in the war business so at least business would be good (ooh-rah).
War is the most logical way that the world is gonna end, lets face that much. And Obama may bring about the end of the world in that sense. But sacrificing him won't save anyone.Voted Hottest Male Member

I think this whole thing is ridiculous. They Mayans stopped making a calendar, now everyone thinks that the world will end in two years. There's no evidence on this theory, just false information.
- 29 Dec. 2009 12:24am #39
that's true.. i guess we won't know what will happen till that day.

Scientist said we would die on 6/6/06. But hey we are still here
