I mean, I wear a slouch beanie because it's sexy.

Blegh, I don't even know what a hipster is. I always wear beanies, regardless...and I dunno, I'm the only guy that dresses like this where I come from. I just wear beanies because my head is always cold and shit and the beanie is comfortable.

- Going to Notre Dame
- You think you're the ultimate cool
- You wear thick rimmed glasses
- I'm guessing you carry that Macbook everywhere with you.
- You drink coffee/go to coffee shops? (with that macbook?)
- reject any mainstream culture?
- You love sarcasim
- Extremely tight jeans, with either a band or plain t shirt and a plaid shirt/v-neck and a cardigan along with Nike hi-tops/Vans/Keds. Or something of the sort.
lawl. You Hipster.
I listen for the whisper of your sweet insanity.
While I formulate denial of your effect on me.
- 12 Feb. 2011 09:07pm #13
- I do go to Notre Dame.
- I am pretty fly, but I'm not cocky about it. Most people say I'm a cool guy, so eh. It's just facts based on other's opinions.
- Thick rimmed glasses because nothing else looked good on me, plus I have -7.00/-7.50 vision...
- I only use my MacBook Pro whenever I have to do schoolwork, otherwise I do not need it. Normally it just sits in my room.
- I drink coffee only whenever I truly need it, but I do not sit around in coffee shops...we only have a Starbucks here, so I am going easy on the coffee.
- Mainstream culture? Eh, mainstream clothing/music are not really my thing. I've been dressing uniquely like this for a couple of years, so I am different when it comes to that...and I've been listening to underground hip-hop music since middle school...
- I am not that sarcastic at times.
- No band t-shirts, I have a tshirt of "The Roots" that I really love...Other than that, I normally wear v-necks and when it comes to button downs or shit like that, I have two Polo shirts and the other stuff that I have is two Hollister button downs. And in terms of shoes, I have 6 pairs of Vans, 1 pair of Sperry's, and 1 pair of Converses. Jeans, I hate skinny jeans. I think they are gay. Straight leg/slim fit all the way fo' sho'. The reason I wear Vans though is because I skateboard. Authentics for the win.
I mean shit, I made this style up on my own pretty much. I was the only guy that really dressed like this where I come from, sooooo...yeah.

Hipsters don't just wear slouch beanies.
Once trust fund punks lose their savings they are reduced to riding a fixed gear bike, the same means of travel they had when they were in middle school. Their current bike build is actually less sophisticated than the ones they grew up on, but hipsters will always sacrifice the convenience of brakes for fashion.
One of the most pretentious of all hipsters, fixies are primarily located in Williamsburg, Portland, San Francisco and wherever else snobs congregate these days. They tend to hang out at cafés, bike shops and anywhere else they can turn their nose at other hipsters. Usually enrolled in some form of printmaking or photography at their art school, the fixie spends more time complaining about things rather than creating them.
One should not confuse a nonathletic fixie with actual racers or bike messengers. The latter can spot a fixed gear hipster from a block away, recognizing their bike as just another fashion accessory until they move onto the next trend. Usually a vegan, the street smart cyclist weighs no more than 100 pounds when soaking wet and gets his sole caloric intake from PBRs and plants.
A fixie longs for a Bianchi Pista with drop handlebars but instead will custom order their ride from Urban Outfitters using their employee discount. The Fixie likes to tell everyone they are saving the world by having “one less car” but ultimately they just can't afford one.

Why the hell does having a Mac make you a hipster? Jw.

No, you're paying a premium price for a slick design and durable material. Some people don't mind paying for quality. After all, on paper the specs don't look too impressive. But they certainly aren't slow in any sense of the word. Well, aside form the mac mini. But that's the only exception. The thing about most Pc manufactures is that they find it acceptable to use low quality screws, casing, and being ok with their product not being the best it can be. Some people don't mind that, and that's perfectly acceptable. I wouldn't look down upon you based on your personal preference. And you have absolutely no right to criticize people on what they do with the money they earned. And to be honest, I find it slightly childish when people criticize Mac users, as well as Mac users criticizing PC users.
