flp still works on people?
- 03 Jun. 2013 08:41am #2
Good question. If it does I would consider using them again. Wasn't a big fan of them back in the day as bots were so readily accessible. But I've been out of the Gaia community for years now and I'm still getting the feel back for it. I've already seen bots are not nearly as common as they once were.
This makes me think FLP's might be the new way to go.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, maybe we should bring back FLPs? If anyone is still interested in FLPs I want to make a web that masks the url like gaiaonlline.com or something

All we would have to do is get a page named something like gaiaionline. No one who falls for these ever checks that shit. No one would pay any attention to the extra i.

Ok right now Flps are really the only things that i can think of that drk, but they're unreliable if your looking for good accounts. Most avid users of gaia do pay attention to the extra i, but there's no fixing stupidity.

FLPs are a crappy way to get stuff on Gaia. Most people won't fall for it, and if they do you'll lose the account in a week-month anyways. To the people who say FLPs are the only way to get anything on Gaia anymore, you lack imagination.
I seriously don't get what the draw is towards taking an account that is actively being used, because obviously that account is going to just be banned/returned to the user most of the time, as opposed to get inactive accounts which pose a much lesser risk. Normally the people who even fall for these don't have enough value to be worth anything in the first place (probably less than 5mil)

i've always hated fake login pages or anything that is fake to obtain someone's account @ gaiaonline
i've never used them so i wouldn't care about this topic. find a more creative way to get someone's account rather than spreading bull shit around which .01% only fall for.

Even though your post count is 189, you seem like someone who is posting things just to raise their count. Why do I say this? Because you only post bullshit. You rarely stay on topic, and all you do is bitch, whine, and complain. If you don't like something, ignore it, it's that simple.

how is that an stupid pointless annoying message? it's my opinion. Do you know what spam is?
however, your post was, it's also counted as flamming "Please, take your unnecessary shit elsewhere"

Its 50/50 really, it all depends on how smart they are.

I imagine FLPs now are only for the incredibly gullible or newbies, since I imagine most of the people who have a bunch of gold spend money every month to get their stuff, and would probably complain profusely if they lost their account and would probably play the "I better get my account back because I donated so much to Gaia" card.

flp's would work but would get crap accounts, and maybe 1 okay account mostly cause of the redrect warning and that (I'd like to hope) people arnt that stupid. I'd think your best luck would be in the chatter box. cause it seems to attract stupid people. (no offence to anyone) If I remember way back when, that's where they got put, or maybe in the exchange.

Well, for an FLP trk it'd have to be a nub or an idiot. In scenario one, the account would be too new to be rewarding; if you wanted a mule you could just make one behind a proxy. No big. In scenario two, well, since every other page on Gaia says something like "Don't trust people that say x," and since redirect links will be accompanied by a splash page stating that the victim is leaving Gaia, well, a person whuld fall for an FLP would certainly be hard to find-- and someone with valuable stuff? Forget about it.
However, if you wanted to do more sophisticated phishing, you could take a swing at a Linux-based OS called Backtrack. I'm not sure what the exact policy on hacking/exploiting is here, so I'll leave it at that and let you Google for moar
