No, you both are assuming I didn't become a jackass in response to rejection and the cruelty of the world, which I did.
In high school I was a perfect gentleman, aspired to be a priest, was naive beyond description due to being overly sheltered ,a good catholic, and thought 3rd base was holding hands. Which I never thought I'd get there wanting to be a priest. Two crushes later, being regularly beaten up by a dude named Marty, and the introduction of metal & the internet to my life created this.
@Clover: Oh, no, you don't have the full now 9 year story that is this "friendship". If we were to go through it at length you would not hold that opinion of the events that have led to now.
Aw I don't mean this to be condescending in any way but if you were in my high school your innocents probably would have been corrupted by my group of people. Because that's adorable. Just sayin'. (And again I toootally don't mean that condescending at all I mean as in genuinely it's cute because I haven't ran into many people that naive.) I think we have a difference of opinion on what makes a "nice guy" verses a guy who is nice. I always see a "nice guy" or a nice guy complex as usually entitled males who are nice for the sake of having a girl like them. If you were just naturally a chill guy, you were a nice person but not a "nice guy". Also if she genuinely said she didn't want to be with you because you were nice, or kept you on that bullshit sort friend leash where they give you hope but never follow through... Then that has nothing to do with you being nice and everything to do with her either making excuses or being immature. I feel bad if it's the case of the "You're my brother but I'm going to hint we could be more but you're just oh so nice, so lol bro status!" That has nothing to do with being a nice guy, it has to do with a girl who doesn't know what she wants or wants to play games. That or the possibility she's attention seeking and enjoys her interactions with you. This is all just speculation since I have no idea what happen. But only the following things are possible.:
She really was never interested in you because you're you and not because you're just nice.
If you default personality was really nice but she didn't like you because of it, it means she didn't like you.
If she said you're too nice and that's why she doesn't want to be with you, and that's all. Like in example "You're so nice and just like my brother, if you weren't so nice I could be with you." Then that goes back to the first statement. She didn't like you, she wanted to shape you into another person. I want to get through to you, it's because she wanted you to be something or someone else than you were.
The other one possible option is she really wasn't interested or was interested at one point of time and now isn't. So now she no longer sees you in that way.
The last one which is possible is she doesn't know what she wants. She wanted/wants to be with you to a certain degree but is indecisive. That or she enjoys the attention of stringing someone along.
Either way even if it was nine years of complete bs it might be time to start working on getting over her. The hardest part being the motivation to do so. : (
