Today in Psychology we were discussing Dreams and looking up the interpretation of them.
I've been having this on recurring dream where I wake up, and my cat is curled up asleep on my chest. I try to sit up but I can't. So I shake my cat awake and it looks at me and it has a human face.
It's mouth opens and it starts to scream like a banshee, or a baby or something being hurt EXTREMELY bad. But the scariest part is, it's jaw never stops opening. It keeps getting wider and wider, and I'm unable to scream. No noise comes out.
What are your wierdest dreams? And do you know waht they mean?

I always have dreams where I will be in one place, then it turns into another place.
I don't make a big deal about it in my dreams though.
Sometimes I dream and in those dreams I am walking around but having difficulty. My knees start hurting which make walking really hard.
Other times I have... "erotic" dreams and then my mom walks in on me.
I normally dream being with my friends from school and sometimes family.Last edited by Shadow; 14 Jan. 2010 at 08:48pm.

I suffer from a mild case of sleep apnea, so my strangest dream, if you can call it that, is around once a week, when I'm asleep my mind suddenly snaps awake (i.e. I regain conscious thought), however am unable to move or even open my eyes. I'm completely paralyzed, and the most annoying thing is I'm not even able to breath. Just before it feels like I'm about to suffocate, I wake up, my involuntary breathing reflex kicking in due to a lack of oxygen.
Sometimes when I sleep during the day, same thing happens, however I'm often able to open my eyes. When it occurs I'm in a delirious state, thinking I'm about to die. Even when I'm right next to someone, and trying to scream their name, I'm only able to get out really small breaths, and they're unable to hear me.
If you mean the traditional form of dreams, then no, there is no discernible pattern to any of them, nor are they recurring.

The same thing happens to me once in a while, only I can open my eyes.
So I guess I'm not completely paralyzed. Also I can breathe. Only thing is that I can't move.
I try and try to move but I just don't budge. Eventually though, I am able to move.
It's will and mind power; strangely for me.

My ex-girlfriend has the same exact thing. Sleep Paralysis. Hers is BAD though. She can't drive because it got to the point where she'll randomly fall asleep and/or hallucinate at random points during the day, but her body will still be functioning like it's awake (auto pilot).
I was in class with her last year and she was still taking notes when the teacher started the movie (I was curious why she was still writing. I didn't know she'd fallen asleep) and about 5 seconds later she started SCREAMING bloody murder and cried insanely for no reason what-so-ever. She told me what happened later and she fell asleep, but hallucinated at the same time and saw a wave of bird-eating spiders flood into the room and jump all over her body.
I used to sleep over at her house a lot and of course, as a lot of couples do, we slept together. Everytime I woke up I had to keep checking on her to make sure she's ok because she said she's been awake, but paralyzed, unable to move, breath, etc. and tried talking to me but I was just doing my usual thing like she was still sleeping (which is what I saw). She'd wake up screaming and gasping for breath.
It seems really scary.☜(* x *)☞FOOL ON COOL GENERATION

I don't have dreams. I was told that means eventually I will go insane in certain psychology schools of thought. Dreams may or may not mean any thing no one actually knows and psychologist disagree on it. But my opinion of psychology is its a load of bull. I used to find it interesting, I studied it, found it to be a pseudo-science if you can call it a science. In my opinion dreams can mean things but seldom do, they certainly aren't predicting the future or any thing. They might be working out things your conscious mind can't but I don't believe they do so in a relevant rational sense.

I can see why psychologists would relate it with meaning. What goes on in your life influences your thoughts and some things stay on your mind. Since dreams are all visions you're seeing through your mind and thoughts (pretty much just thought more vividly seen as a 'dream', it would make sense for what's on your mind to influence what you're dreaming.

She seems to have two different issues there. Sleep apnea is more or less the reverse of parasomnias (which your ex seemed to have some form of), in which the mind is active but the body is non-responsive. She should go see a sleep doctor about that if she hasn't, might be able to prescribe her some medication.
For me personally, when it occurs, it's pretty crazy, even more so because I'm delirious at the time. Most of the night sessions, I've trained myself not to fight it (even though in hindsight I know nothing will happen, when it occurs it really does feel as though I'm suffocating and about to die). The day time sessions still mess with me though, since I rarely sleep during the day, and when it occurs I can usually open my eyes, which is a huge mindfuck.

Yeah she's been going to sleep doctors since she was a kid, and the medication they give her works, but it has a bad effect on her. It makes her EXTREMELY depressed. It was worse in her early teens. Her old prescription made her depressed to the point of suicide.
I can't imagine having sleep apnea. It sounds pretty scary. o.<☜(* x *)☞FOOL ON COOL GENERATION

I also have sleep apnea, it gets really fucked sometimes because when im "awake" in my bed, just lying there, if the room has a window or a closet, mythical beasts and or creatures come out of them, harming or helping me in some way... mom says im just fucked.

One time I had a dream that it was the end of the world and I was climbing up a ladder. I was covered in rubble and dirt, and had scrapes and bruises all over my body. The ladder was in a place that looked much like one of the hardest missions on Modern Warfare 2 (COD). The one after the airport mission, and you are in this poor town and have to chase this dude. Yeah..

Uhm I hate dreams. Sometimes they scare the shir outta me. Every few months I'll have a recurring dream. When I do they often come true people think that I'm lying but I kno what I saw one time I dreamt my gramma was laying down sayingnothanx I don't want any neckbones. And after a few weeks of dreaming it every night and tellin my mom about it it actually happened I shat myself. After that the dream stopped, right now my recurring dream is that my gf is gonna call my name from behind my back and ask me if I want skittles and then I wake up afterwards.

If I have a normal dream, it's weird to me.
Almost all of my dreams, you'd swear I took a hit of acid or something before I went to bed. They're always so wacked out and WTF worthy that you'd wonder how they got in my head the first place.
Damn. I was hoping my dream journal was on this computer, but it's not. I was going to dive into some that were the most WTF worthy, but I can go for 2nd best:
So in this one dream, I'm walking around the bottom floor of this incredibly large building. It's made like a maze, with random furniture and whatnot. It actually made me think of Habbo Hotel...where they'd turn the rooms into maze games. After searching for a way out, I found a fireplace that held a secret passage. I decided to take it, and by doing so, I made it to an area that led out of the building.
As I made it out, I took out my cell phone to call someone. By mistake, I hit a button that connected me with the people of Go Daddy (or something like that. We'll call it that for now). You know those little On Star things in cars that you can press and they connect you? It was that kind of button...on my cell phone.
A woman on the other end responded thusly:
"Thank you for calling Go Daddy, how can I help you?"
I apologized and told her that I didn't mean to press the button, and that I was trying to call a friend. She responded thusly:
"I see..." In a grave tone. "Please hold while I connect you to our CEO"
I tried to stop her, but she transferred me to a new line. I attempted to hang up, but I couldn't for some reason. I waited for what seemed like an hour for this guy to pick up his phone.
Out of nowhere, this guy that resembled a mixture of Don Knotts and William Shatner walks up in a crisp suit. "Hello, how can I help you?" he asked, as I just looked at him in confusion. He told me that he was the CEO of Go Daddy, and I was just looking at him with a WTF face, since apparently, he learned to teleport...since it was still fast for him to get there, even though it was only an hour.
So I explained to him what was going on, and he did one of those "tsk tsk" things, shook his head, and said "That's not good, not good at all."
Then what happens? He takes out a knife. A KNIFE. He starts getting closer, and I just get the most horrified look on my face and run for my life.
While I'm running, I see these two Japanese girls standing there at the bottom of a hill. Don't ask why they were two girls, or Japanese girls...I have no idea. I run up to them and they follow, seeing the CEO guy just walking...not running, but walking (You know how villains will just take their time, cocky that they'll get you anyways) towards us with the knife.
About a second later, I make it up the incredibly steep and large hill, and I'm alone. Either I learned teleport as well, or like a bad movie, it just cut a chunk of plot out. So I'm looking at the INCREDIBLY familiar area of my apartment, Kingston Hall (the Math building), and whatnot, as I'm starting to run towards my apartment.
Both the girls, and the CEO weren't in sight. I made it to my apartment...and ran to my neighbor's door (because apparently my own door wasn't good enough). I knocked, and they answered. But instead of my actual neighbor, it was some random person that I've never seen before that answered the door...that ended up being my neighbor in this dream.
I explained what was going on as they ran to get their phone. They got it, as I ended up dialing 911 (Since my phone refuses to hang up). While I was doing that, I heard something from another neighbor's door, and ran there to check it out. I was greeted with a bloody door, and a ransacked apartment.
I told the police what was going on, and they told me they were going to send someone out right away. So I hung up and ran back to give the phone back to the neighbor...but they were dead too.
So I ran away from the apartment. While I was running, I spotted the two Japanese girls standing there looking at me worryingly. I started to run to them, but before I got there, a police truck came out of nowhere, and ran them over (and the gore was just like you'd see in a movie). First off, I was thinking "Damn, they got here fast." along with "They could have stopped before they hit the girls <_<"
But when the guy got out of the car, it was the CEO...in a Sheriff outfit. From the police car, I could hear the people at the station calling in choppers and whatnot to the area. But...and I don't know HOW he did it, but the CEO got the walkee talkee out and told them to hold off on everything, because I was a liar (wtf?)...and they listened to him.
So he started walking towards me, with a bottle of alcohol in his hand. I started backing up, as I suddenly got the idea (which I swear, I'm more assertive in my dreams) to grab the bottle and smash it over his head.
So I did, and he fell to the ground. But he was still conscious. He stood back up...and advanced again...and I woke up.
Now I dare you to try to interpret that traffic jam.

I have a ton of weird dreams,
Though this one might be more sad
When my friend died, the night I found out I had this dream that that friend came to my house and he gave me six presents, they were in small presents and he said they were for all the Christmas's and birthdays he missed and he ever got my sister one gift
I was really embarrassed because I didn't have anything for him, it made me wake up crying.

Yesterday, I went to bed, and blinked, and woke up, and it went from being 110 to being 6:00. PM to AM. So I guess I didn't dream?

I had this freaky dream once when I was little, its the only one I still remember clearly to this day.
I was about 6 or 7 and I was standing in a field with a group of other kids and none of us knew why we were there and we're looking around when one kid gasps and points behind us. We all turn around and we see these planets so close to us we could reach out and touch them. All the other kids had one in front of them and when I saw "mine" it was just this empty black orb and when I touched it I felt kind of an electric shock and then I woke up. Really freaky...

Yay! I'm playin re.
:]
My last dream, last night, was there was a big gang outside my house, and I snuck out and came home and had toget in my dads car to open the garage door. So, I got in and locked it then hid for a while so the gang people didn't see me. Then I opened the door and they didn't notice and my dumbass mom came down and closed it. Then I got in the drivers seat, drove away and called her, then I wokeup.
My other dream was weird. But I wokeup from that to.
I always wakeup before the bad stuff happens on purpose.
It's like I'm dreaming but part of me says wakeup.Google was here

Haha. That reminds me of a weird dream I had a long time ago when I was a kid. I was at my grandparents' house, and they told me to go make something in a wood shop, like a bird feeder or some shit. I went into some room they don't even have that had a bunch of equipment like that, and there was a picture of me and my mom on the wall. As I was working, the picture came to life, and my mom said something to me, and I ran out of the room screaming. Then I woke up all terrified and made my mom hide the picture.
Was weird.
I never really have recurring dreams, though.
A really freaky one was when I was a little kid. I had a dream my dad was picking me up from say day care or school or something, and on the way home, I saw a monster running through the woods, running as fast as the truck. I don't remember if I said anything or not, but I remember the seat all-of-a-sudden flying back, me flying backwards, my neck getting caught on the seatbelt, and me choking on it, while my dad didn't notice. I woke up to find that I was smothering myself with my pillow, forcing it over my head so that I couldn't breathe.
Looking back, I lol, since it hasn't happened since I was like 5. But it freaked me out as a kid.

One of my most recent weird dreams is, I was sort of watching this weird person like thing just standing in an empty white void. Suddenly it dropped to its hands and knees and a wall of what looked like water appeared beneath it. After a little while of looking at itself in the water-wall-thing, it plunged its face into the mirror-like water-wall-thing and then i woke up.
Try to look at me from a different point of view than you would normally.
