Who has it? What are your thoughts about it?
I think it should just count as extra credit because some
complain Americans are getting to fat, well each minute
doing homework can be used to burn of calories, exercising.
don't mention how another option would be avoiding computer

Homework

Homework sharpens the brain. And really, there are plenty of other times during the day to get exercise. Wake up thirty minutes earlier and go for a jog.

Yeah, I get most of your points, but
nobody ever saved a life, or
stopped a crime while doing their homework.
and it seems like teacher incompletness,
if they were doing their jobs we would've
learned all the homework information in class.

I have it, I hate it, I don't do it.

No..
You can't just learn the material in class and automatically know it. Some people can, but those are the kids in the advanced classes. You have to practice it, especially in subjects like math and science. If you only practiced it in school it would take much much longer to learn the material and school years would even be extended. You also have to study in any history class, because that is mainly memorization. If you only studied during school, you wouldn't have enough time to continue learning the chapter. If you never study at home, then you will never learn the material and will fail the test.

It sucks.
Why do have HW? To test our knowledge on the material we're learning, then why do we have tests?
- 09 Jan. 2010 01:56pm #12Truthfully, I don't like homework.
But if it's gettin' my grade up, and what-not I don't really mind.
Besides, I only have One Year of school left any ways, might as well get it done and not complain.
O HAY.

You're in an AP class. You are smarter than most students so you simply don't understand. Look at me, for instance. I am completely unable to just go to school, learn something and automatically know it to heart. I HAVE to practice at subjects like math, and subjects like science. I have to study or I will not learn. Same in history. If I do not take notes and read them 5 times I will not know any of it, but one of my friends just listens in class, never studies or takes notes, and makes in the 90s on all of the American History tests.

I have quite a bit of it. I really don't think it takes up much of our time, though.

It's not all bad,
If you really want to just write bull down like I do in my spinach class. Home work is not that big of a deal it's only a piece of paper, one your out of collage that should be it, unless you don't go to collage then it's only till your senior year of highschool.

My school is really vigorous for a public school.
Pre-AP courses are treated as AP, AP courses are treated as torture.

I am getting really bad at keeping up with homework, but I have the brains to throw together a quick review the night before and ace the test, so my grades are keeping up fine.

I personally have homework everyday for most of the my subject. I for one think that it's a crucial thing to do when you get home from school. Did you know that if you review the material you learn within six hours of learning it, there is a 85% chance of you remembering it easier and recalling it in the future compared to only 30% chance of you remembering it and recalling it in the future without reviewing the material you learned at school. Now a lot of teenagers think, (I am a teenager so I should know) that homework is a waste of time. But what it's doing is engraving it into your mind so you can prepare for the exams better. That is, unless you already learned it or you're just gifted like that

Homework is pointless, in high school at least. Its just busy work that serves no purpose because you were just handed all the tools necessary to complete it in the class that day.Often enough it doesn't count for enough to motivate you to do it either. So there are those that waste hours doing and those that waste hours not doing it. Homework has nothing to do with your weight problem.
In college teachers almost never require homework, rather you're expect to do what you have to to keep up with the class. This is because you aren't spoon feed every thing you need to succeed in the class you're give some rudimentary knowledge and then have to figure everything else out yourself. If that means you have to read the chapter 100 times you do and if you can get away with just picking up everything from lectures you do. There are only assignments in college: papers, labs, occasional worksheet. Assignments require that you manipulate concepts and knowledge you hopefully gained from developing the ideas present in class.
