My questions is what are your views on the Illuminati and their motives?
Illuminati is a blanket term for numerous secrete societies over the years. Like the Freemasons its unlikely that the organization is a continual link through the years. If there are Illuminati currently then there are more than likely multiples and some may be plotting world government take over and some may be tied up in the secret societies at ivy league schools and may consist of the wealthiest members of our society. I doubt they have the power that conspiracy theorist say they do. I say this because I can tell you that corporate interests rule the world any way so people don't need a secret society to run the world the way they want to, all they need is money.
As to their goals are I know traditionally they wanted the ability to discuss science and human progress, it was with in agreement with religious belief. Pop culture says they want to have a world government that is founded in religious belief or just torture humanity or undermine religion. If there is a powerful group of them in existence then its just a name attached to a club of rich guys sitting around talking about how they can make more money. Most of them seem to be frats being stupid.
I understand what you are saying but there seems to be a lot of things going on lately that all have ties to Masonic symbols and people who are well known to the world having ties to the Illuminati. Even in the idea that it is just a pack of corporate fat rats, has a flaw, why not just come out?Quote:

The Illuminati back in the day were only a group of scientists. There's no devil worshiping group that puts symbols in music videos.
The Illuminati was not exactly a group of scientists, they were a group of political and religious people following Judaic code, founded by Prof. Adam Weishaupt. One of Weishaupt's students was Karl Marx, and as is such most of the Illuminist ideals are what most would consider communist or Marxist.Quote:

Old men that want to control the world is nothing new, if it is given at face value as a fascist governing regime or something else of the sort that is more of a cloak and dagger kind of act would be unbeknownst to us. People talk about motives as many reasons as people. And at that even a group of old men manipulating policies for their own benefit in its own right can be considered a secret society or uber-rich people working behind the scenes to control what is said and done. I just read the Dues Ex book recently, and it had a lot of stuff about the Illuminati. I for one believe in them, but I'm not quite sure if they're a threat yet.

Functionally impossible is the same as impossible. You need to be able to hold that kind of rationalization together, get it in place, remain undetected, maintain control, ect. The resources, the man-power, and organization makes it completely impractical. Feasible if you started 500 years ago, were continually successful, and no one ever defected or talked then maybe you could have a power structure up but its maintenance at this point would be ridiculous. A large portion of the populations would have to be involved, it'd demand 24-7 commitment, people wouldn't be able to work real jobs and lead double lives just because of the time needed. The money funneled into it would create glaring deficits in numerous peoples', corporations, government, ect.Quote:

Even if they did exist, what's the point? What's the goal?
Everything I read is conflicted. Some times they are Marxist, sometimes they want unified global religion and government, sometimes they want the destruction of civilization, sometimes they want to destroy religion and instant science as the only belief system, sometimes they want to destroy all technology and science.
At some point you'd have to come forward with the world domination thing and people would riot, you might very well maintain control but you'd lose whole sections of the population as they fought against you.
