Not to shoot you down but I think the more interesting argument is what does race mean in America today. After the election of one President Obama the pundits got up and said that my generation and those following were post-racial. The election of Obama apparently signified that race was no longer an issue in America today. I sat there an laughed for the first time after the election of the aforementioned man(the one with all the political ideas I hate) because is far as I could see race was the only reason he won. Numerous people upon hearing I did not support Obama called me racist even though I only disagree with his politics not his skin, I know a number of people that voted for him out of "white guilt", and that he played the fact he would be the first black president up. These are not the only reasons he won, he had support of left extremists, he made lots of promises to the youth and gay communities to get their backing, ect.
I suppose if you want to ask what role racism plays in America you're merely asking about what race means in America and as far as I see it means a lot and is a present considerations in all things. But from what I can see of diversity programs and affirmative action we've made it so the blade cuts both ways, though few will say so. Regardless of your race you are like to experience racism, either from a government program, social standards, ect. Still for the average person and day to day interpersonal events I think race plays little to no part for 95% of the population. That is to say the individuals in are country are not racist but are attempts to avoid racism or ensure political correctness create a sort of institutional racism that creates social conditions that respond to that and then perpetuate racism in a more systemic.

Well, racism is never going to disappear. That is the truth.
Racism itself is human nature. Humans fear/hate things or people different from themselves.
I think America will never stop being racist because companies all across our corrupt country hire colored people so they seem more racially friendly. In most cases, favoring the less skilled employee for the job. There is also a lot of straightforward racism going on in our country. Famous radio star Howard Stern proved that Obama would've had a significantly higher amount of votes if he were white. Don't trust anything recent presidents say, they're in bed with major companies in the Middle East.
Don't judge based on skin, judge based on actions.

My boyfriend gets a lot of crap from people who call him a racist. He's not however. Just because he identifies himself as Neo-Tribalist. Which means, he believe that all of humanity can be broken up into different groups forming for them self tribes of cultural affiliation. How this makes him racist, I do not understand. However, back on topic - Its sad how the "racist" gets thrown around so much. I mean, there's Black History Month, Mexican Pride week along with Asian pride, but if someone says that they're "proud" to be white - that makes them a racist.

Your boyfriend might not be a racist, but tribalism is essentially reverting back to animalistic roots. Doesn't that seem like something an animal freak would follow?
