It's all about how you feel. If you can't get up a flight of stairs without choking or if you'd rather take the bus when you can walk, that's when the bells should start ringing.
There's nothing wrong with having a bit of a belly and feeling good about yourself, I do it all the time, I know I'm fucking fabulous and I know that my BMI is basically somewhere in the category of obese.
I take pole dance classes twice a week and do cardio & weight lifting at home, I walk when I can and I ride my bike everywhere. I eat a lot of veggies and fruit, especially in the summer.
I feel really good and my weight doesn't have anything to do with it.
There's a difference between being a bit bigger and being a total fat lazy ass.
What's wrong with this world is that it's always about looks and less about health.
We shouldn't promote muscles and a tiny waist, but rather being healthy, eating good healthy food, stop McDonalds and all that crap and actually have good food available for people, even the lazy ones.

Last night I had a vision of a disco in the sky, I saw angels and saints dancing together.
I remembered the thump of the bass and the pump of the kick, because my heart was almost out my body and I felt free, I felt joy,
I felt things I never thought I'd feel before. It was deep it was soulful it was techno it was disco,
a kaleidoscope of sounds it was truly underground it was an essential mix in the cloud where we could dance and sing out loud
it was New York Ibiza and Miami all wrapped up into one. There were speakers the size of skyscrapers and the stars they flickered like strobes,
and everybody loved everybody else, a tribal beast of rhythm a ceremony of sound, the gathering of the spirits that would lift us off the ground,
my vision was so clear, but it was still hazy in my mind, I must have went to house heaven, because nothing's that divine...

Which is what society has been doing. Take a look at the majority of people. High BMI or not, people are lazy fatsses that would rather drive to 7/11 half a mile away than walk it.
You're still missing my point. If you work and shit, cool. I don't really care, it's for your own benefit. But it's a fact that high BMI and unhealthy fat percentages causes health risks. I don't really care how you feel about your body. I really do not. The science is there, and I'm being honest, my rant is particularly pointed to those who bitch about being fatasses or not being able to do shit, but they don't do shit to change it. Because "It's okay to be fat, everyone else is just insensitive, bla bla plus size models everyone is a dick."
If you work and feel good and don't bitch about being fat, cool. But if you had the same BMI, size, weight, and didn't do shit, and you bitched about it instead of doing something, society would tell you it's okay because everyone else is an asshole and you're strong for being the way you are. Which is the opposite, you're weak for NOT doing anything. If you understand what I am saying.
You're right, it is about looks for society. Because honestly, hardwork and dedication show with your body. As the poster before you said, someone fit is more likely to get a job than someone unfit 'looking.' Because hardwork shows. Albeit, it's not always true, but it is a good way to go about things. Because hardwork DOES show. And who cares about waiste size? That's another thing I don't get, it's irrelevant. So is weight. BMI is the issue.
Like if everyone's mindset wasn't "it's okay to be fat you don't have to be skinny don't listen to anyone they are assholes" while the person is bitching online about how she's having some revelation and breaking free of "society's" bounds, whe instead she doesn't do shit and she just sits there eating unhealthy.. and instead it was "walk everywhere instead of drive, eat good whole meals, and work hard" then the BMI averages wouldn't be what they are, and people wouldn't be so big.
Let's be honest, you could work harder than you do. I can't say you do or don't, but there's always a "harder" trking out. Everytime I leave the gym, regardless if I hit my maximum amount of working out, after I recover for 15 minutes I think to myself "I can go back and do more."
But honestly, if you didn't do the activities you have said you do, you'd have an even bigger BMI than you do now. Right? Right. And now translate that into you bitching online about how it's okay to be fat and how everyone hates you, and how you've come to some revelation that you accept your body now. And how everyone has to "accept you the way you are." And how the horse coaches that said you were too heavy to ride horses was a dick and wrong. Fuck him right? Even though you chose through lifestyle choices up to that point, and refuse to do anything about it?
You also pointed out muscle shouldn't be promoted. Your muscle is the amount of work and effort you are able to exert. Think of it as potential energy. Sure, you don't need to bench half a car. But the ability to lift objects would take the dependency factor out of a lot of things.
I'm sorry if I came off as offensive, I don't really care though. My point is, society doesn't care what you do, or how much work you put into it, if you are fat, lazy or not, it is okay and everyone else is an asshole. It's the hard truth. Working out shows results. Certain life style choices show, too. There's no getting around the fact that results work. And how weak society is. If you sit around eating McDonalds all day, and play video games, and have a BMI of like fucking 45%, and someone calls you fat, whoah shit, they are on the same level of being racist, and it's okay to be like that be okay with your body fuck being healthy. That guy is just a dick.
I disagree with this. Well, the part about not caring. I don't care what people think, it's the hard work and self-satisfaction I get that after utterly destroying my body of doing "squats till you puke" and seeing results that keeps me going. I've only got myself to outdo, I don't have to show up anyone else. Although, I may have misunderstood you ost and you were saying that people don't care about what someone looks like when they're looking for someone to date. You can't capture what this kid spits with kismet
each packet i send is encrypted with 3DES
And I'll keep flowin til the light goes off

High BMI doesn't translate directly to health risks.
True, but not really a valid point. Sure, one can always work out more, but that doesn't always translates to weight loss. Besides not everyone has the time to do it.
O_o I'm not really sure what you understood from my post, but I'm saying that society does frown upon fatness, just not openly.
I'm not taking this post seriously.

Also, kind of related, but not really because their show is usually filled with fallacies:
