Help me, LG!
So, I've never taken a physics class before in my life.
I need to determine the launch angle and velocity of an object.
Is there an equation for this?
What I have: The hoop height is 98 inches. We're aiming above it by a foot, so 110 inches. The air resistance is just 1.0, once we get actual data we're going to change it. I just need the equation to determine angle and velocity based on the height of what you're aiming at and the distance away from it.
If anyone could help, it would be GREATLY appreciated. I really need an answer to this question.
The reason I need to do all this is because (as a mini-test) the president of my robotics club said I had to program a function for our pneumatic gun and have it done in 3 days. I just started programming C++ less than 2 weeks ago.

DUUUDE. NO WAY. FIRST ROBOTICS? XD
Im in it too :>
This is my 3rd year as the programmer on the team. Doing auto tracking myself and have to calculate trajectory also.

Also, due to several factors, we have decided rather to not calculate the air resistance and what not. Its low enough to ignore it. You need to be on chief delphi! Check this thread:

They are a team we compete against in our districts. As we are in michigan we have district competitions lol, no where (that I know of) else does. Anywho, They go to nationals pretty much every year something about enough money to just throw ideas then have it all machined over night every night with no human interaction
We actually build everything from scratch so its much more difficult.
Also, its just a very valuable website. Lots of ideas from teams are just thrown out here and designs posted. Also they will give you help if you need it.
