Pokemon Conquest

Imagine a simplified Fire Emblem with pokemon, feudal Japan, and a chess mechanic. Now imagine that that worked and was pretty cool.
It's rather addictive and is a very interesting and refreshing take on the game. It's literally unlike any other pokemon game and that keeps it's engaging, for me at least.
You recruit warriors that have the ability to bond with pokemon. They can bond with multiple pokemon but only use on per battle. The pokemon can only use one more. You try to choose warriors and pokemon that give you type advantages against an opposing army and then maneuver them around the field. Trainers and pokemon have special abilities that influence battle under certain conditions. Trainers can link with wild pokemon to gain a new one. Each warrior and pokemon has an ideal match that will allow them to reach their maximum power and as you get deeper into the game you have to seek to find these partnerships.

If you know anything about feudal Japanese history it's interesting to see how historical figures have been re-imagined into the past of pokemon.

I'm actually excited about the other stories. The amount of content is just phenomenal. I'm only a few hours in at this point.

They're fun, and don't take as long as the main story, unless you want to take a long time.
I fight against my sister on the game and those battles are pretty much the best
