People care less than you think. I went to prom in a leather jacket. No once care very much when i came in and ceased to care after like five minutes. They only stare when you do something weird...like tango with a dude while holding a rose in your mouth cause your bitch date won't stop texting some 25 year old in Tennessee she decided she loves last night. Yay high school.

Any way yeah...wear something nice and just have fun, nothing else really matters. People is people, don't worry about how you look or what they think, just relax and have fun with your friends.

Then you're good. Just go and have fun. Its not a formal thing really. Semi-formal really is just a "we're all dressing formal-ish and then nothing else will be formal". There should be food...semiformal usually means food.

It's basically like C0FFIN said. People stand around, some people dance, and a lot of people leave early to go out to eat before they go home or go to a hotel or something.

I'm poor, so I didn't have a tux, but instead I went in a black jacket buttoned up halfway, my dads black tie, a plain white shirt underneath it, unripped jeans, and plain black sneakers.

Dude my friend made a duck tape suit for senior prom it was awesome.
My other friend went to goodwill and bought a tux like suit for $5.

haha. xD Dad once told me about someone who had a duct tape suit at his prom in the early 80s. lol

You can get a scholarship for college for doing the ducktape suit.
