probably some more topics, more interesting people, and new comers who dont give a fuck about underground stuff?
and a nicer layout, the current one is kinda dull and boring

More bots, getting rid of the stupid chao, more interesting topics, less judgemental troll pricks, and generosity and acceptance among new comers.

A few forum games? Some OC. More friendly posting, and more like, friendships. You can't control that, though. We just need more activity, really. Maybe some more sub forums (sort of like *nix, webdesign etc) just make it a more general forum. It'll appeal to a larger user base. Focusing on a Gaia "hack" website is so cliche. Gaia is dying. You need to reinvent these forums to something more people will want to be a part of. I have been thinking about making up a few guides on *nix things, partly because someone PM'd me asking how to configure systems and stuff, but partly because I want contribute to something, and the other forums I'm on are blocked and saturated with people posting the same things. But why would I contribute something computer system related when the forum I'm posting it on doesn't have any interest in *nix systems? You know? I'm just saying, a Gaia oriented website isn't where it's at. If you truly want an active user base, why focus on something like Gaia, a dying website? Make it more general, a place to learn lots of things.
One thing for instance; the programming section. There are so many programming languages. We should split it up into language sections. Sure, some sections would be more active than others, but it would help make the forums look a lot neater, and it would draw an interest to users. When I see "programming" as a section I think it's a joke. If I see "Programming" with different language sections, I think "Wow I'm gonna give this a chance."
I'm trying to be constructive here. These general subjects and concepts with a focus on a dying shitty game for 13 year olds will not bring in a larger crowd.
This forum can still be active, you just have to reinvent it, sort of.You can't capture what this kid spits with kismet

I'M WORKIN ON IT GAWD.
I'm going to also try to compile a large list of Gaia Online accounts, and give 1 or 2 out every month or so possibly, and possibly some other things. It's not 100% yet.

I disagree. There are many forums out there that are sucessful because of the userbase, and not the host. HF for example, it provides a HUGE variety of dicussion, and the users contribute, learn, and try to provide guides on things. The host site provides literally next to nothing other than forum updates and patches. I was there for the *nix, Linux, and BSD section. The *nix community is very RTFM based, but people will help eachother (until you start asking some backtrack shit.)
But that's not what I'm getting at. I'm trying to say, I get where you're comin from. Yea, the host site needs some zeal to keep users interested when it comes to websites focusing on a cheating on a game like Gaia. Same with w8baby for Maplestory. They need their devs to keep making their shitty cheat client to keep people coming back.
Let's get some more variety in the sections, make more progress in the programming forum. It'll entice people to "learn" languages so one day they can help make "cheats." Although, that is the wrong reason for said sections. I'm just saying, without a contributing and discussing community, there is nothing. But if the community is driven towards helping eachother in knowledge, instead of "omg UG the LG devs are making st0ffs I cant wait for the cheats" then it will be fruitful.
Honestly if you made a more variety of forums I believe it would attractive users. You want more discussive users. You can't capture what this kid spits with kismet

Tbh only a very small userbase will ever try to actually program themselves, even with tons of source code available to them. Even a smaller amount will stick with it, and even a smaller will be any good.
People come here for handouts for the most part from what I see. Almost every new user's first post is "PLZ GIV ME SOMETHIN".
I kind of disagree on the variety of forums as well, too much could be overkill and kill the site further. Almost every forum on this site is already dead. Right now I believe LG needs to make a major focus on one single subject to draw people in, and expand as people come.
There are very few devs here, and most of us (including me) rarely even work on Gaia anymore, however what I have seen is people aren't expecting super complicated bots, but simple autoposters, autovoters, refreshers, fishing bots etc. I'm not sure if LG actually has that stuff in it's bot but if it does it should be advertised more to draw users in.

I mean if you want to focus on a dying game, then go ahead. But from what I have seen from successful forums, they are built on the idea of a community helping eachother to gain knowledge, not being elitist and trying to outdo others on a shitty dying game. Why would you want low quality (LQ) users only here for bullshit programs for a bullshit game? When you could instead have high quality users here to learn and contribute?
I forgot successful meant having a bunch of sheep drooling over cheats, to a forum based on cheating on a shitty game. You can't capture what this kid spits with kismet

Hmm. I see what you're saying. I still think we should branch out some of our forums, though. Not that much though. We should deffinatly revamp though.
I believe I'm going to stick with LG for a good while. I know I'm going to stay for another 3 months before I move back stateside. And once I get back, I know I'm not going to leave a forum behind like that. I'm already planning little ideas to contribute in things I know. It's not Gaia related or anything, but I think it would help out the forums a bit. You now? This is why I am so adamant about having an OS section with a separate sub section for OS X, Windows, and *nix/BSD/flavours. And a few language sub sections. I want to contribute, but I have nowhere to post them. A simple OS section isn't good enough. You have 3 different main OS's, you can't combine the three because they have little to nothing to do with eachother (besides OSX and *nix/BSD. OSX is Unix certified. However it is proprietary and has different functions.)
I'm not saying make forums like $LG/Index/OperatingSystem/*nix/Linux/W3afAuditting/SQLi
Just a small forum for a few things. *nix is my passion. I honestly believe with a forum dedicated to the 3 main OS's it'll help users stay around. Come on, I do tech support shit for a job and for fun on the side. I, and others can help users with Widows problems. So they don't have to outsource for computer problems, their forum is right here.
That's one point for Windows.
Mac OS, the same thing, the user base is unique, and a lot of people use MacOS.
*nix is also very unique, different than the above two. A lot of people have an interest in *nix but people don't know how to get into it. People usually jump to the first distro they find. (Ubuntu) and they miss out on learning curves. *nix isn't just installing shit and running it and running a few things through BASH. It's actual kernel theory. There's so much more to it. Kernel theory, different kernel types, the relationship between shell and kernel, different work enviroments, windows managers, display managers, setting up network configs, cronjobs!, configuring your work space, there's so much. Everything works in a serverlient model. It is completely unique to Windows. you have an X server, and a client to view the information it puts out. And it's all open for you to see and interact with yourself. Why do people say hackers use Linux? Not because it's better for cracking shit (even though it is optimum for auditing, etc), but because there's so much more to learn. There's more limits to push. It's a constant learning experience. You don't just boot into something you can't touch. Your system is yours. And if you choose to do so, everything you see you made. You can't capture what this kid spits with kismet

I'm not sure if you guys support listings but here goes.
- Separate the programming section into a few subsections.
- Make an operating system forum with subsections for the three main OS's
Or even a "Technology" board with a mobile forum for iOS/Android and the Operating system forum with separate subsections for Windows/Mac/*nix - The OS sections can also be tech support help forums
- Makes rules against being Low Quality.

If I'm not mistaken, the thing that made LG previously glorious was the PM spammer on Gaia. It was free advertising for thousands, if not tens/ or hundreds of thousands, of users.
Now that that has Captcha, it's not so easy to advertise.

New idea;
Lets find a faerie and tell it to cast a spell on LG to make it cooler
- 09 Jul. 2013 08:47pm #32
If you do, I think that has always been the absolute best option -- PMs on sites like Gaia, Neopets, or other target game/Marketplace audiences.
If you can share the source code afterward, I can make a JavaScript extension to LGaia with it.
I've been meaning to with LGaia's GSI functionality, but I haven't worked with Captchas and am not particularly eager to take them on.
- 09 Jul. 2013 09:07pm #33
I'm currently about to start testing on a quick PM spammer I made. Not sure if I'll post the source openly with the compiled release, but it will be pretty easy to figure out how it's doing it.
It's almost done, though was quickly thrown together since I'm busy, so accounts must be put into a txt file by the user themselves.
- 09 Jul. 2013 10:01pm #34
The early version of the Ad Bot is done, only supports PMs right now and can use multiple accounts.
One of you guys come up with a good PM title and message to send to users while I'm away for like the next two hours, and post it here or message it to me.
Also come up with a better way to link to LG besides tinyurl (tinyurl looks suspicious and LG is blocked on gaia).

Depends on the domain. $8/year, roughly, or so.
Could get something like go2lg.info or whatever. Something short, like a URL shortener.
Would be real easy to set it up so that domain.tld/123 redirects to referrer ID 123 on the forum.

There is an endless laundry list of things that can be said as to what would make LG thrive again. Moving from the target audience of gayafags would be detrimental to the site and would close a huge section of the people that come here. But if Tree can bypass the captcha with his spammer, things will take a definite upturn in the gaya sections and sections related to that. Of course it will most likely bring on the bitching masses of people trying to get into the "hacks" like it did once upon a time.
What I feel needs to get done is a wider audience target on different games all over the net. LoL is the new big thing right now that almost everyone is playing and as far as I know, has no captcha on the messaging, and even if it does (thanks to Tree) that won't mean a damn thing. So there is a target audience right there. And with a spammer that can't really be stopped by the bullshit, things will go back to the hundred new members a week that LG was getting right before 1.o circled the drain.
Original Content is slim and rare at this point. The main draw on LG for the longest time was Terry's Mule farm and the fishing bot Alex dropped here back in 'o7. That was when FLPs and FFPS and shit was still able trk so well and wasn't an immediate chain ban on every account you had and every account hacked. Yes we have some amazing programmers and people here that do amazing things that I admit I don't have the patience or the ability to do, and I have the utmost respect for them, but the content is high level shit, and there is very little basic stuff being pumped to the masses.
Adding forums won't mean a lot at this point. For the most part they will either end up barren or explode in activity. Programming sections would be an amazing idea if tuts are posted and people can learn how to actually do some of the programming thing and then competitions could be held so people would force one another to get better. Pokemon forum: explosive activity; Maplestory (when it was still up) was barren 99% of the time since 2.o launched. So every idea there is hit or miss.
I've been saying one thing all along. You can bring the people here, but making them have a reason to stay is the trick. I've stayed on LG for so long because it was the first online forum I ever really felt at home at. Shit I still have screenshots from 1.o of people bitching at me over infractions that I gave them back in 2oo8.
I realize now that I'm really just rambling, but here is an idea that I've pitched must be almost 15 times now: install and tweek an RPG plug in for vB that will give real content to the game. It will give the programmers something on the side trk on every now and then and the graphics people something to design for. There are literally dozens of these plugins and they range from Pokemon style to Final Fantasy style games that can give a bigger use to LG gold, and give an entire community something to play with when they want a break from the unwashed masses on gaya or whatever. Maybe it's just me, but given the availability of these plugins and NOTHING else seems to be working that well at this point, where is the hurt in giving it a shot?Voted Hottest Male Member
