Does your e-mail provider not include a contacts service...? You can generally even export them to backup files to transfer between providers.

I have really bad luck with operating systems failing and having to delete everything because I don't have a CD drive, and I get my emails banned pretty quickly haha. So I always feel that writing them down physically is just safer. And anyway, I love writing shit down in notes, not sure why.

It's probably because doing things the old school way adds a sence of security. I also right down things like that just so its not on my pc. I find its harder to lose track of as well since I'm always moving shit around on my computer. (I typed this on my phone so there may be some auto correct mistakes.)
