(EDIT : this is now a thread documenting my journey into the deep web, feel free to post your ss's / videos, or your journeys into it aswell. But please, be safe and dont go snooping around places your not to sure about. You never know what you might click on.)
Thinking about browsing it.
I was going to -
> put paper over webcam
> disable java
> use tor (no shit)
> use cyberghost
> use 2-4 proxies with it
Any other precautions i should take before browsing?
Ive been on it before when I was at my friends house. Never done it on my computer specifically.
Will take lots of screenshots and or videos
Random facts "· The deep Web contains 7,500 terabytes of information compared to 19 terabytes of information in the surface Web << Honestly dose not seem true. Total quality content of the deep Web is 1,000 to 2,000 times greater than that of the surface Web << seems pretty true."
Im not going to go on all the obvious sites like violent desires or silk road.
will check out hiddenwiki and try to find some other sites.
Can anyone spare a little more info on the subject and a few more ways to be safe?
looking for tips from people that have been on it before.
Thanks.
Edit : My journey has begun. Using a Russian proxie infused with tor, I navigated through the hidden wiki.
I even made a video so all of you can see what its about.
Ill post it as soon as the upload is finished.
Update: This is really amazing. Viewing all the black markets where people buy all kinds of weapons. It seems that most weapon dealers are spread through word of mouth and torpm or tordir (private messaging services).
I noticed severel people referred a certain weapon dealer (not going to say the name) who sent weapons un assembled mixed in with computer parts in giant boxes.
Videos
Video was made before I got the hang of it. This was my first experience on the deep web.
watch in 1080p fullscreen.

OMG why don't i know what deep web is ?!!1 i have to know XD
I found:
Code:The content of databases. Databases contain information stored in tables created by such programs as Access, Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL. (There are other types of databases, but we will focus on database tables for the sake of simplicity.) Information stored in databases is accessible only by query. In other words, the database must somehow be searched and the data retrieved and then displayed on a Web page. This is distinct from static, self-contained Web pages, which can be accessed directly. A significant amount of valuable information on the Web is generated from databases. Non-text files such as multimedia, images, software, and documents in formats such as Portable Document Format (PDF) and Microsoft Word. For example, see Digital Image Resources on the Deep Web for a good indication of what is out there for images. Content available on sites protected by passwords or other restrictions. Some of this is fee-based content, such as subscription content paid for by libraries or private companies and available to their users based on various authentication schemes. Special content not presented as Web pages, such as full text articles and books Dynamically-changing, updated content, such as news and airline flights

Just to let you know. Tor isn't even all 5% of the deep web. It is only a layer. And there is still the Dark Web, but that isn't important to you.

Clover is mildly interested for purely education purposes.
This is interesting.

Its just a little deeper than the deep web.
People also talk about the marina web mainly because the marina trnech is the deepest part of the ocean, hence it being the deepest part of the deep web.
@clover, strictly educationalmoteTeeHee: I should also post a few screenies, forgot about that D:yup this is really me gamersoul AVA

Lol phaul, you don't need to do any of that stuff just boot from Ubuntu LOL
The only way these people are controlling webcams and installing viruses are because of retarded people and sweet 0days that they find in browsers to auto-install things.
My deep web experiences: Hidden wiki, anonymous pages, assassination market, hacking forums, pretty much every page on hidden wiki.

Browsed the hidden wiki, didn't get farther than that since I had to make dinner.
Thinking of possibly installing Ubuntu on my half broken laptop. Lol

Oh? I learned something new. Though I was looking for a new OS for my laptop anyways. Mostly because it's not backwards compatible with xp and even Jerry rigging the drivers doesn't seem trk so well. It only has two gigs of RAM and it's default OS was vista. Lol

Oh yeah omlette, I saw that but didn't really care because I'll probably never go to Virginia Tech xD
- 30 Sep. 2011 03:35pm #36
Did you find the story about the secret military bases? It's also a good read.
@Flareboy: It's fun reading about that kind of information. I'm not going there either, but I was interested because it was new knowledge to me.
- 30 Sep. 2011 09:36pm #37
That was one of the first ones I read, because I was scared of the black markets at the time.
- 30 Sep. 2011 11:11pm #38
Not sure what topic you guys are on atm, just read first post. Gave me an idea thats kinda pointless but fun.
Make a crawler that only measures the size of each page. Obviously i will never hit every page on the internet because the internet expands much faster than i could ever search it but, it would give me some fun statistics lmao. Should i go in depth with this? Thoughts, ideas?

Alright, i think im going to do a bit more research on the idea before i code anything though aha. Possibly make it a thing users could help do. Make a client and server thing. Server feeds client websites to crawl or something. May get a bit complex and might not be worth it in the end but eh. Worth looking into and gives me some things to think about without going insane from boredum. Thanks for the idea omlett
