(EDIT : this is now a thread documenting my journey into the deep web, feel free to post your ss's / videos, or your journeys into it aswell. But please, be safe and dont go snooping around places your not to sure about. You never know what you might click on.)

Thinking about browsing it.
I was going to -
> put paper over webcam
> disable java
> use tor (no shit)
> use cyberghost
> use 2-4 proxies with it

Any other precautions i should take before browsing?

Ive been on it before when I was at my friends house. Never done it on my computer specifically.

Will take lots of screenshots and or videos

will check out hiddenwiki and try to find some other sites.

Can anyone spare a little more info on the subject and a few more ways to be safe?
looking for tips from people that have been on it before.

Edit : My journey has begun. Using a Russian proxie infused with tor, I navigated through the hidden wiki.
I even made a video so all of you can see what its about.
Ill post it as soon as the upload is finished.


Update: This is really amazing. Viewing all the black markets where people buy all kinds of weapons. It seems that most weapon dealers are spread through word of mouth and torpm or tordir (private messaging services).
I noticed severel people referred a certain weapon dealer (not going to say the name) who sent weapons un assembled mixed in with computer parts in giant boxes.

I stripped the proxies and started cyberghost with tor, that way the already slow speed isnt affected much.

My friend has been going on it for about 3 years now.
Hes pretty much my guide.

Ive pretty much only been on website through hidden wiki.
Even though theres thousands of more websites, im not sure how to find them yet.

Just to let you know. Tor isn't even all 5% of the deep web. It is only a layer. And there is still the Dark Web, but that isn't important to you.

Its just a little deeper than the deep web.
People also talk about the marina web mainly because the marina trnech is the deepest part of the ocean, hence it being the deepest part of the deep web.

The only way these people are controlling webcams and installing viruses are because of retarded people and sweet 0days that they find in browsers to auto-install things.

My deep web experiences: Hidden wiki, anonymous pages, assassination market, hacking forums, pretty much every page on hidden wiki.

Browsed the hidden wiki, didn't get farther than that since I had to make dinner.
Thinking of possibly installing Ubuntu on my half broken laptop. Lol

Don't need to install it :) When you download and burn the ISO, you can just boot from CD instead of installing it, though no changes will be saved unless on a USB :O

Oh? I learned something new. 8D Though I was looking for a new OS for my laptop anyways. Mostly because it's not backwards compatible with xp and even Jerry rigging the drivers doesn't seem to work so well. It only has two gigs of RAM and it's default OS was vista. Lol

That sounds just like mine lol. Lenovo IdeaPad Y510 is mine, and I tried to install a cracked version of XP, and no WiFi worked :O I run Ubuntu on that laptop now, and sometimes P.H.L.A.K (Professional Hacker's Linux Assault Kit) and some other assault kit ISOs

pshh ubuntu is too much work.

plus, i have scripts disabled so i couldent download anything anyways.

@everyone, I reccomend checking out the "under virginia tech" page.
Its about this guys information on the hidden steam tunnels under virginia tech. he even took a few pictures.

That sounds pretty nifty I'll surely have to check it out later.

Make a crawler that only measures the size of each page. Obviously i will never hit every page on the internet because the internet expands much faster than i could ever search it but, it would give me some fun statistics lmao. Should i go in depth with this? Thoughts, ideas?

I think that's be pretty sweet.

Alright, i think im going to do a bit more research on the idea before i code anything though aha. Possibly make it a thing users could help do. Make a client and server thing. Server feeds client websites to crawl or something. May get a bit complex and might not be worth it in the end but eh. Worth looking into and gives me some things to think about without going insane from boredum. Thanks for the idea omlett :D
