Ah, just go to Canvas>Change size, or use the selection tool to select what you want to save and go to Canvas>Crop by Selection.

Oh wait, I think I misunderstood what you wanted; I thought you meant that it didn't give you the ink pen or something (since I associate line tool with that since I line by hand). If you mean something like the pen tool in Photoshop, on the layers panel, click the new layer button with a pen over it. Then the tools palette should change, giving you new tools for that lining process.
