i just realized that a relatively important file on my desktop was deleted. (txt file, had some passwords, phone nums etc) does anyone know how to recover the file? i have about 100 gig of space left on the disk and the file was deleted only a few days ago so i dont think its overwritten yet.

Since you said you did it a night ago or so, depending on how much your computer has been used since then will determine how much of the file is permanently erased for ever. Most likely chance, it's already gone.

If you are sure that the its not overwritten yet so it is great, you can recover the files (all types) with the help of a data recovery software, i will ask you to use kernel for fat and ntfs file recovery software which can recover all type of data and files from hard drive, flash drive etc. for more details and process - http://www.windowsdatarecovery.com

Speed Up Slow Computer, Keep PC and Internet Secure, Freeware Download - IObit
Go there, Install Advanced system care 4, Go to the toolbox, And pick to recover deleted files.
Works like a charm, Pick its last known directory and it will skim every single little bit of data thats there on the harddrive, deleted or not, and it will recover it.
