It isn't a definite deal. The FCC has to investigate AT&T over the next 12 months to make sure that the merger won't cause any monopolies. That's where the government comes into play. If they approve this it will be the last straw. If AT&T merges with T-mobile that would make them the only GSM carrier in the U.S. (aside from the little companies that only have towers in one city). That's all the proof I need to see that this country no-longer cares about the citizens, it cares about the companies.

ok so I finally found what you guys are talking about on google took me a little bit to find someone who actually explained it...but now im fucking extremely pissed off....that is sooo not cool. I am with tmobile for a reason...
1. better service in the bay area
2. cheaper overall
3. unlimited data and cheaper data
4. they HAD fav 5
5. better phones with the one exception of iphone
6. cheaper phones and tabs
7. tmobile prides in being into android
8. android rocks
9. att changed there stupid name and should have left it as cingular
10. Ive had verizon, cingular, metropcs (theyre super cheap and good but there phones suck), and tmobile. tmobile turned out to be the best.
11. when i dont pay my bill it doesnt shut off til a month later when the next bill is due
12. att shuts your phone off quickly if you dont pay your bill
13. att is full of themselves.
14. but on the bright side at least they are being bought by like verizon i hate cdma its sooo inconvienent..
So what happens with phones you have purchased? for those people that actually dont have theres unlocked? will they unlock them ALL or have you get new phones? and will they take over there phone base? because i was about to get the dell streak 7 tab and att's tabs suck ass

That's the thing. If T-Mobile was bought by Sprint they wouldn't force everybody to switch to CDMA. That would defeat the purpose of the acquisition. It would allow Sprint to be both a GSM and CDMA carrier, which allows for more competition and pushes other companies to innovate.
