If you average it with the upload speed it drags it down significantly. It's not a trick, it's a direct link to speedtest.net.

Your upload speed changes things a LOT for gaming. I suggest NOT using it for gaming. If you do, it will lag you more than not. This is because you are doing is much sending to the server as you are receiving. If you can get your upload speed up a little to sacrifice a little download speed that your not using anyways, your much better off.

Different internet subscription...

Poor host has poor upload speed. Everyone sends host information -> Host can't upload fast enough -> Causes lag. People with poor download speed can't download speed fast enough causes them to 'lag' during a game while everyone else is teleportingz.
