When I was overcome with an overwhelming sense of Loneliness. I had just died and was trying to find my way back to my house. So here I was, wandering around this huge world 8x the size of earth, and I see not a single form of life. So I start thinking, wouldn't it be cool if you stumbled upon some sort of ruin that signified there was at some point, someone living here?
And then I got creeped out. I was walking and I could hear these footsteps falling a second late after mine. I stopped, and they stopped. I looked around for a cow or chicken or a creeper, but I see nothing. The moment I start moving again, they pick up where they left off, always falling a mere second too late to be matched up perfectly, as if whatever was following me wanted me to know. I spin around quickly and try to catch a glimps of whatever it is. I see nothing at all once again. I decided to stack some dirt up to a tree top to get a better view, and I see nothing all around me. Nothing. No sign of any humans, nor animals. The world is unnaturally bare.
I stand there for a while, and continue to ponder on the idea of a ruin, when it hits me. If there were ruins that would only make the world more lonely, as it only solidified the fact that you were alone, but not only that; it meant that civilization had at some point been wiped out. Then I remember the zombies. There are zombies that look like the default character. Had there at some point been a zombie outbreak that wiped out this whole entire world? How had I survived? What was the point of mining out all these rocks and crafting things? Even If I built an entire city, there'd be no one there living in it. What was the point of living anymore, trying to do something productive? I was the last person on this entire world...
Then I heard the steps again.
They were faster than any other mob, they sounded like they could be faster than the player. I stayed on top of the tree, afraid of whatever it might be. I spun around 360 degrees, and still could see nothing. The footsteps got louder and louder, until I was sure they were right underneath the tree. I couldn't quite see, but there was something underneath the leafs.
By now I was freaked out. Whatever it was, it was moving. I tried to sneak off the edge to catch a glimpse, but I could see nothing. Taking a deep breath, I tried to tell myself it was only a game, and nothing bad could happen.
I push the W button and fall to the ground, then try and do a quick turn around to face the tree again. But something terrifying happened. The sound started glitching and all I heard was the player's footsteps skipping, over and over again. They were playing at the same speed as the other footsteps I heard. The game lagged out, and on the side of the screen all I could see was something on fire. And an arm, covered in a light blue shirt.
The next thing I knew, I had lost all hearts and was on the ground. The steps were still glitching, and the respawn menu came up, but everything was still frozen. then an error screen came up, and the game was forced to close.
I nearly screamed.
I didn't play minecraft for a while after that. I was still a little shaken. When I decided to load it back up, and reopen that world, It took me to the respawn screen once again. Things were fixed this time, and I could sort of make out what was in the back. I could see a chicken, clearly on fire. But every tree I could see was also lit ablaze. I clicked the respawn button, and it took a little longer than usual. I thought the game had crashed when all it showed was a black screen, but then it began trk again.
When I respawned, I made another terrifying discovery. I was at the top of the sky, no blocks underneath me, and I was falling. I looked down and noticed some water, a lot of water. When I landed and resurfaced, all I could see around me was endless water. Even with the render distance to far, I could see only water.
I closed the game instantly, and deleted that world. I don't care if I ever found my house again, I don't think I'm going to be playing minecraft for a while anyway.
