If you were depressed as in a bipolar state, you'd be crying, and be extremely introverted.

BiPolar is a mood swing kind of disorder, and the moods you have are much stronger than just normal depression and anger.

Yelling at your parents and being angry doesn't necessarily have anything to do with bipolar disorder.



Bipolar disorder is characterized by intermittent feelings of mania and depression. When you're in the manic stage you're more apt to be hyper, impulsive, more easily agitated, being more reckless, ect. These are the times when those with bipolar disorder type I tend to get violent/edgy. When you're in the depressive stage, well that's pretty much self explanatory. You feel tired, lethargic, sad, possibly suicidal, ect.

There are three types of Bipolar disorder with very levels.

Bipolar: Which is characterized by very levels of depression and mania. These people get full blown mania, they're usually what you think of when it comes to bipolar disorder.
Bipolar type II: Is also characterized by very levels of depression and mania but they don't hit full blown mania. They go through what's called Hypomania which is basically a less drastic version of Bipolar mania I. They still have impulse issues, aggression issues, more energy, ect. They just don't have the mania quite as extreme.
And cyclothymia: Which involves less sever mood swings from mania to depression.

Both Bipolar type II and Cylothymia can be misdiagnosed for depression alone.
There is also NOS Bipolar disorder which is sort of the catch all for everything else that doesn't fit.

Oh and as much as Bipolar people are labeled as mood swingy, most episodes for most people happen only once a year lasting from three months to six months. (So like three months of depression, or three months of mania)

There is however a rapid cycle version which is classified by four or more episodes in a 12 month period. There are also those who can change from manic to depression in days but those actually are a lot more rare than what you'd think.
