I'm not a fan of her music but I love her random style and don't-give-a-fuck attitude about her appearance.

If it was just that you'd be right. But her mannerism, style of dress, and presentation are all the same as Bowie's during his many phases.
The only difference between her and him(and this is what pisses me off) is that she write nonsensical pop and he wrote things with deep symbolic meaning. If you gonna rip off someone 90% why not just go that last 10% and be respectable.

Nothing else gets on the radio besides rap and shit.

So mult platinum record selling rock star that has lasted for 4 decades and invited and stood at the front of numerous musical movements and is a god among men in Europe it better that pop artist any one.
Pop music sells a lot when its popular, but never last. That's the point of pop music, sell out, make money, retire. No meaning, no musical value.
Everyone born prior to 1989 knows David Bowie. Many people born after that date know him because of his diverse musical abilities, 40 years worth of music, and the fact he serves as influence to countless artist, is re fenced in several songs, and is in and directed several movie.

Are you serious? "Poker Face" is a dance/trance music with vocals ,which is what a lot of rap is, which is being referred to by Kain as "shit"(agrees).
Also don't be listening to the radio. Its controlled, monitored, and what comes out is calculated. They control what you hear and how you hear it so as to influence your musical preference and ideas of what music is and isn't. The industry is music now, the music is no long the industry.

I just heard someone playing Just Dance in their car really loudly a week after it came out so I bought it... then bought the album, then the obsession began.

Jackson
One: Michael Jackson moved beyond a pop artist when he actually started writing about things and established himself as an icon
Two: Michael if you look at him as a pop artist, was not really that big of a deal or popular in current day till he died.
Three: Being a pop artist of the 80s its far to soon to see if he would last or not. Especial due to his recent death, which given its circumstances and the timing could easy keep him in the public mind for another twenty years.
Madonna:
Is a social icon, no one thinks she did any thing musically or that her stuff matters or remembers her for her music. She's remembered for being half naked and shaking her ass. Mostly cause she was the first woman to really do that. Also if you were to strip the social icon status and look at her musically it'd still be too soon to see if she's last. Popular during the late 80s so everyone growing up then and alive then would still look back on her and her music simple in terms of "that's what was popular in my youth/glory days" and sentiment means nothing in musical value. You need 40-50 years before you can evaluate the lasting effects of an artist.
Have you ever heard of Les Brown or Buddy Clark? No. You know why? They are pop artist from the 40s no one remembers.

Stop being stubborn. You can't expect everyone to have your same musical preference.
I love Lady Gaga. My musical tastes aren't influenced by what comes on the radio. The radio station I listen to is influenced by my music tastes. I've gone through about three stations now, finding newer and better ones.
99% of the music on my computer isn't and has never been played on the radio.
Now stop being a cunt. Gaga is awesome. Pop culture music is awesome. It becomes pop culture by being awesome, not vice-versa. There are names for the things that happen vice-versa, and those are clearly known (e.g. Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, other sluts, etc.). Those are never 'hidden' and everyone knows they're only 'awesome' (even though I can't stand it) because they're 'pop culture.' They're rare and only make up < 1% of pop culture references. The rest are pop culture because they're awesome.
Gaga being one.
You act like just 'cause it comes on the radio, everyone has to love it. I find myself all too often changing between stations on the radio until I find a song I like, not matter how pop culture the before and after songs are.
Old pop artists who never died: Rick Astley, The Beatles, Journey, Queen.

Why the fuck are you bringing people up from 1940s? Around the same time as bowie there was ABBA, popular pop music group still well known today. Way more famous than bowie and sold more albums than he did.
I'm not even going to correct you in all the things that were wrong about madonna and michael.

I really don't care what other people like. The idea that pop music is awesome and on the radio because its awesome is stupid. Pop music is popular because it follows the formula that every musician knows for writing a pop song, then they go to a recording studio and stick the standard pop bells and whistles on there and sell it to the masses. The masses buy it because the formula is a simple that repeats with a hook and a bridge and that is a naturally catchy. An that's what all pop music is and that's why you like it. Because a I-IV-V progression with a 4/4 beat makes sense to the human brain in terms of organization. The fact is yes, I find that pathetic to cave to what is expected. The radio/music industry says this is popular, thus it is, thus is played on the radio a billion times, thus you all fall in line and listen, and never realize you're listening to the same thing over and over just with a different voice in a different key. No one challenges the status quo any more. When Eddy Van Halen walked out on stage and played "Euruption" it was unlike any thing in the world. No one had heard those sounds or seen aguitar played that way. When "Hey Jude" came on for the first time is was ground breaking, songs were only supposed to last for 2 minutes or less unless it was a classical piece. When Lynyrd Skynyrd preformed with female vocalist, a piano, horns, and three guitarist it was a big deal, never done, never had any one tried it or achieved that kind or sound. Now you have pop artist one sing and they sound the same as pop artist two. So yes, I have a problem with the way the general populace looks at music because as a musician I know we are capable of better and much more.
When was Rick Astley ever popular besides the week "Never Gonna Give You Up" came out and as a way to annoy people?
The Beatles started as pop artist and evolved into a driving musical force that expanded the definition of music and what a band is and what a record can be.
Journey is definitely terrible. Mainstream watered down rock that should never have been allowed to exist.
Queen was very much a rock band not a pop band, the pop scene has since grab like 5 of their songs and plays them to death but Queen has a rich and expressive discography. An used their music and fame mostly to advance the homosexual community's campaign to be accepted.

Pop= techno background (techno repeats itself with tons of instruments which requires work to be put into it), lyrics, cool bridge, done
Old pop= funk, lyrics, cool bridge, done
Rock= well connected mash of instruments (i.e. techno background(funk) cept without synths), lyrics, cool bridge, done
Old rock= well connected mash of instruments, lyrics, cool bridge, done
Pop evolved
Rock didn't

I'm just curious as to how "Can I have picture with nips showing allowed?" turned into "Pop vs. other unknown shitty music"
