Tutorial
For
Hitachi
Drives
************************************************** ******
This tutorial is for iXtreme 1.51 because iXtreme 1.6 has not yet been released for Hitachi drives.
Once the firmaware is released the tutorial will be updated.
iXtreme 1.51 still plays backups with the 3rd wave video partition
You can download all the files that you will need from here:
Hitachi files on rapidshare.
Firstly you will have to open your xbox 360. If you are unsure how to please search on youtube lots of vids for it.
***VIA users with no drivers, must either install drivers, or, utilise PortIO –you will not be
assigned a drive letter in windows with no drivers!!!***
***Windows API Users, after setting ModeB, you must wait for hardware changes to be
detected (15 secs) If nothing is detected, click “Refresh***
Please note if your Hitachi DVD drive is already flashed you will need to restore the original firmware before flashing new firmware. Please see below.
Setting Mode-B
Hitachi drives need to be in Mode B to be able to read and write to the drive. So first of all we need hook up the Hitachi drive to your PC via sata. If you have a CK3 or Maximus then all the better, if not you will need to use the 360 to power the drive when connected via sata. So you will need ur power pack and AV cable plugged into the back of the 360.
Ok now turn on the drive. (Blue light to be lit if using CK3).
Open Jungleflasher in the pack you downloaded earlier and click on Hitachi at top.
Make sure you have the correct port selected. You can find your port number opening up Iprep 8 and selecting ur Via chipset and looking for the 4 digits below ur selected chipset.
Once you have the correct port make sure that you select either Win API or PortIO depending on ur setup. Win API seems trk best for XP with VIA 6421a chipset. And also select which drive you are flashing. Make sure if your using Win API that you leave the system for 15secs or so to check for hardware changes after pushing "send mode b". Basically it looks for your drive. Ok so make sure
1. You have the correct port selected.
2. Choose whether to use Win API or PortIO
3. Select Drive and transfer method. (Use Classic for all drives apart from 78/79. If 78/79 use RAM Upload)
4. In flashing options make sure Dump Drive is selected
5. Then click "Send Mode-B"
You should see this
Follow the instructions push ok
You should then see this.
**79 drive only**, you will now need to unlock the drive. Go to the folder you have downloaded and install Image Burn if you have not already. Once installed go into the 79unlock cd folder and right click on the .cue file and burn with image burn on a blank cd-r.**
Once burned you now eject the DVD drive and insert the burned disk into the Hitachi v79 drive and close down any auto runs, and then click on the 79 Unlock button.
You should see this
Your drive is now unlocked and ready to dump the firmware.
Firmware Dumping
**Please note if you have a 78/79 drive you must use RAM Upload in transfer method.**
Now ur in Mode-B just double check ur settings you have made in the previous steps. if all ok then Click "Read to Source"
This will now dump the drive
Once the Original firmware is dumped it will prompt you to save it.
Save it and make sure you put it somewhere safe I ususally put them in a folder with the console serial number then you dont forget.
Once saved it should open in Firmware Tool.
Make sure you check the Firmware Type, if Stock then your good to flash, if not dont worry As when you try to flash the ixtreme 1.51 firmware it will throw a popup and show this
If you have stock firmware then skip this part to the flashing section.
Restoring Original Firmware
Ok if you have modded firmware already on your drive you will need to restore to the original here.
Simply make sure all your settings are correct for your Hitachi drive, and click on "Restore Firmware" in flashing options and click "restore to stock" button.
It will now do a stability test on your drive
It should show stable in the prompt message if ok just push "Yes"
It will now check the checksum and fix. Just push "Ok". Make sure you check the log and that it all looks good like below.
Flashing Ixtreme 1.51
Simply again just make sure all your settings are correct for your drive and select "Flash Ixtreme" in Flashing Options. Then click "Flash Hacked f/w" button.
It will again prompt you to save the firmware you are reccomended to do so.
It will then do another stability test. If reports stable just push "Yes" to continue.
Jungleflasher will then start flashing the sectors.
Once it has finished check the log and you should see this.
Well done you have just flashed your Hitachi.

Tutorial
For
LiteOn
Drives
************************************************** ******
What you need:
Key extractor like the CK3+probe or the Maximus
Download this file to use with this tut.
Code:http://rapidshare.com/files/267329526/JungleFlasher_v0.1.65_for_Liteons.rar
VIA 6421a chipset
Tutorial
1. If this is the first time flashing a Liteon you need to unscrew the 4 screws on the bottom of the drive and take off the bottom plate.
2. Hook up ur Liteon via Sata to ur PC, be sure to be careful and make sure you connect the cables properly into the back, because if you are using the CK3 and plug in the wrong way you will blow it. The small cable from the CK3 has 2 tabs on them to show which correct way to put in, because the drive is upside down make sure they are facing the top of the drive. If you don?t know what I mean then google it.
3. Power on the drive using the CK3 or Maximus. Open the drive tray, turn off the CK3 or Maximus and the push the tray half way back in manually. Then turn the drive back on again.
4. Open up Jungleflasher in the folder you downloaded earlier and go to DVDKey 32 tab. Make sure the correct I/O port is selected and shows ur Liteon drive as below. Also make sure you have the correct COM port selected for the key grabber usually COM 3
**If you have the new 83850 firmware Liteon then see the PDF file in the folder you downloaded everything is in there.** If not then carry on.
5. You now need to get ur probe or spear and put it on the R707 point as show here.
It should show a green light if all is good.
6. Click Get Key while holding the spear or probe on the R707 point.
It will dump the key 4 or 5 times and then load up a save as prompt, this is ur dummy.bin file which is very important to keep safe and put somewhere safe. Save it and then it will ask you if you want to auto load 1.6 say yes.
7. Click spoof source to target and then click Save to File next to the target firmware. Save that in the same folder you saved your dummy.bin, this should be Lite_CFW.bin, that is the custom firmware your about to flash to ur drive. (Make sure you have both files saved somewhere)
8. Click on MTK Flash 32 tab and click on Lite-On Erase say yes and follow the instructions on screen.
The Liteon is now erased and ready for your new firmware.
9. Simply click Write in flashing tasks and let it verify the write and ur done.
Notes:
If your computer freezes when you erase the drive in Jungleflasher you have semi-bricked ur drive, but not trry. You will need a bootable USB and put these files on it. Boot up from the USB into DOS and follow these instructions. (Make sure you know what port ur drive is located on. i.e. B800. Its the I/O port on DVDkey 32 or MTK Flash 32 tabs you want the last 4 digits.)
1. Put all the files from this download onto the root of the USB not the folder just the progs inside it.
Code:http://rapidshare.com/files/245992443/Dos_Files.rar
3. Boot up into DOS from the USB with the drive turned on.
4. Type l-o-eras.exe B800 (B800 being ur port number) push enter
5. Type l-o-eras.exe b800 again and push enter.
6. Turn off the CK3 or Maximus and turn on again
7. Type l-o-eras.exe b800 again and enter
8. type l-o-eras.exe b800 once more and enter
9. You should now have a status 072.
10. Turn off the drive and on once more.
11. Type dosflash push enter
12. check to see which drive number ur drive is on. Should be 0. Say no to any on screen messages until u get to the bit where it asks you for a driver number type it in and push enter.
13. Type W and hit enter.
14. type Lite_CFW.bin and hit enter let it write and ur done.
Thanks... Stevoal

How do i rip games using the new iXtreme firmare?
Eject the drive tray but hold it half way open and turn off the power. Once booted into windows power on the DVD drive while still holding the drive try half way open. After about 5-10 seconds the DVD drive will be detected as new hardware in windows. Now just use Xbox Backup Creator the rip the game
My DVD drive already has an older version of iXtreme installed - How do i upgrade?
The same way as if the drive had stock firmware - Read the drive firmware, copy the key into the iXtreme firmware, write the firmware to the drive.
All done, but once i insert a game i get "Play DVD". Wtf.
Either the Xbox 360 SATA cable is not plugged back into the DVD drive or the Drive key in the iXtreme is not correct. Use Maximus Firmware Toolbox to check that the drive key matches the one from your orig.bin.
Can i just use my motherboard SATA instead of buying a VIA 6421A PCI card?
Your motherboard SATA might work fine, only way to know is to try it.
You will probably need to buy the VIA PCI card.
Can i get banned from xbox live for playing backups?
Yes. There is always a slight chance.
If you check your games with ABGX360 then the risk of getting banned is very slim - XBOX360 ISO
My computer does not have SATA, can't i just use a USB to SATA adapter?
Only for certain Hitachi drives, best thing to do it buy the VIA 6421A PCI Card

Cool copy paste bro. But for those running on laptops, you can use a two way Usb->Sata cable, DONT use the three way as that presents problems. They're cheap so no excuse not to mod your 360, except for the whole...mass console bans and whatnot.
