"Next week, Ubisoft releases Assassin's Creed 2, the sequel to the 2007 title that smashed the company's expectations and became the game industry's fastest-selling original property in years. This time, it's a different story. While Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is expected to be the biggest selling game of the season, Ubisoft's could be a close second. For Canadians, Assassins Creed might be more compelling given that the game was developed here.
...
Where the game fell down, however, was with its repetitive missions and fights. After getting into a handful of skirmishes and taking out the first half-dozen or so targets, many players and critics found there wasn't much more to the game — the "repetitive quests tend to grow tiresome," as IGN.com put it.
The best way to silence those critics, the designers say, is to overwhelm them. In an advance preview with CBCNews.ca last week, Ubisoft Montreal showed off a game that will blow its precursor away with deep gameplay.
The second game picks up on similar ground — players control Ezio Auditore, a descendent of Altair, in Rennaissance Europe — and features the same level of immersion. Two history professors from McGill University were brought in to ensure realism. They helped prevent anachronisms by pointing out the little things — buildings and structures that were only half-completed in the late 15th century, like the Ponte di Rialto bridge in Venice for example, are accurately depicted in the game."

Its going to be awesome. Definitely one of the best games of the year I think.
Graphics are stunning. And the developers are promising it will blow away the first one.
Any thoughts?

I like how there is a lot more chose in this one and how they didn't make Ezio like Altiar from the first one. In this one the Assassin is very social and big headed where as Altiar was very strict and didn't socialise much.
Apparently Desmond (the dude in the machine) is also related to the Prince of Persia, tying the two games together but that's just a rumour.

The first one i didnt really like... But this new one with ezio? During the italian renesaunts.. Crazy sick! The gameplay looks so fun! I love how you can use soldiers weapons against them, And you can buy armor and weapons! AWESOME! cant wait!

Unlike a lot of people, I really enjoyed the first Assassin's Creed. Even though people (correctly) cited it as "repetitive", the core gameplay was so incredibly polished and engaging that I didn't mind it. Even though I played a substantial portion of AC on 360, I don't have a PS3, 360, or a gameworthy computer. I am, however, looking forward to the PSP version that comes out on the same day.

This looks like a good game. The first one was good, but repetitive I hope it isn't as repetitive.
Still buying it....

So far, I've only seen videos of gameplay, as I have nothing to play it on. The setting and atmosphere looks MUCH better than AC1, IMO.

The first one was amazing. It was so cool how you could kill them

Assassin's Creed 2 is great, I bought it and I love it. Just the beginning of it is great, to be honest. I've been playing CoD MW2 more than ACII though. =/
