How easy is it for a seller of a Gaia account to recover if back IF ... They are not the original owner?
That's my question haha....
Also is Tree a reputable salesman for Gaia Online accounts, that's something else I'd like to know.
Someone from another forum site told me that he gets all of his stuff "illegally", meaning after you buy it you get banned...?
Is that even possible, like... I don't even know. Just looking for some answers from someone that I can trust. I tried to buy my friend some gaia stuff for her birthday... But now I'm concerned that the stuff I bought her was "illegally" obtained, which is about the worst possible scenario that could have happened.
Seeing as her account (just for recieving the item, just for recieveing her fucking birthday present...) will be banned... That's really just horrible if that's the case. You gotta have like less than half a heart to sell ANYONE an item for real money that not only will the not be able to keep, but will also just ban thier account in the first place....
NOTE: PLEASE NOTE: YES READ THIS:
I AM NOT BY ANY MEANS SAYING the member "TREE" DOES THIS. WHAT WAS TOLD TO ME COULD BE COMPLETE AND TOTAL BULLSHIT MADE UP BY SOMEONE THAT EITHER DOESNT LIKE HIM OR HAS A GRUDGE AGAINST HIM (I DONT KNOW THE PERSON VERY WELL AT ALL WHO INFORMED ME OF THIS, SO HE COULD BE MAKING IT UP TO DAMAGE TREE'S REP.
THIS THREAD IS NOT AT ALL SUGGESTING ANYTHING ABOUT ANYONE, ALL I WANT IS ANSWERS FROM OTHER PEOPLE.
I am just very concerned the possibly of a scam, due to the fact that it not only effects me, but also effects one of my best friends. Not only will I have got her account banned, but I will also have ruined her birthday. So answers, and opinions of all of you... Thats all I'm asking.
Thank you for reading and please reply if you can

1) If you change the e-mail and password, they can't get it back without being the original owner, and even that is few and far between.
2) Tree's items may have been illegitimate. If they were, I don't think he would have lied about it.
3) Buying any items, illegitimate or not, with "real money" breaks TOS, which has the exact same punishment (a banned account) regardless of whether or not the items were legitimate.
Anyway, she can always appeal her ban, and they might just ban your account instead or whatever. That's assuming anyone even notices, or cares since it was only one item and stuff like this (innocent people getting hacked items) happens all the time. I imagine they only ban people who show suspicious signs of deliberate malicious intent.

I do now believe that Tree was not going into a trade with illegitimate intent. But still would like some other opinions on the subject in general.

Tree is trustworthy enough.
He has made plenty of successful transactions here.
If you have any concerns about the things he's selling then simply do not purchase.

See I didn't have any concerns about it pre-purcahse. I was new to purchasing Gaia accounts, and didn't know to ask if the items where obtained illegally. However, GAMEcheif offered me his a opinion on it when I told him about our transaction. He game to the conclusion that the OMG was probably not obtained illegally due to the nature of how I told him he obtained it. My only concern now is that he hasn't popped up back on skype since the day after the trade. Or two days ago, that is...
Anyways yeah, still looking to actually get back in contact with him to know the truth about the items I've purchased. But still looking for some others opinions too, I guess.
Thanks guys

You can try PMing him.
In the future, always ask if items are legitimate (if they say yes, they're probably lying) and secured (this is really want you want to know; meaning the account owner is out of the picture and won't report it).

Though the risk factor is greater in how the item was obtained, no?
Liquidation of your items on the marketplace to purchase an item and then selling it, is a lot safer than hacking/taking it from someone and then selling it.
The original question is not so much the legitimacy of the trade, as only the seller (tree) could answer how he obtained the items he sold me. It was more of your opinion of the legitimacy of Tree himself.. I was wondering if he would still try to attempt to sell me an item he knew the chance I would get banned if I purchased it was very high.

There will always be risk in purchasing third party gold or items. I don't even know if selling/purchasing gold off-site is condoned on Gaia.
If you don't want to make the transaction then that's completely at your discretion. The merchant can always tell you the items or gold are legit or even illegitimate. They can lie about the means of which they've obtained them. It all falls down to the matter of what you do with the goods and how you secure them.
You most likely will never find stuff being sold that are genuinely legit. Because there's always the possibility of being banned regardless.
TL;DR: Don't buy gold/items if you aren't willing to take the chance of being banned in the process.
Is that what you want to know about? The validity of Gaia things sold?

I wouldn't say the risk factor is different. I will say that, if the item is reported stolen, you will likely be tracked down and banned.
If the item is never reported as stolen or missing, however, the chances of you getting banned are very high. Therefore, items stolen through phishing typically warrants you getting banned instantly.

It's best to assume high risk so no one gets worked up about anything

Sorry, I was at work that was poor phrasing on my part.
The chances if the item has been reported or stolen garuntee a ban at some point, if there isn't extremely good masking done. The masking has to be done prior to the transaction and will typically revolve in you vastly overpaying what you actually recieve due to you restraining yourself from using a portion of the gold you bought and keeping it on a secured mule, never touching it with your main.
If the item is not reported stolen, or linked to a banned account, typically you will have no issues. This however, can change at the whim of whoever was the original owner reporting this item as stolen.

Nope. It's a bannable offense. Buying legit items immediately makes them no longer legitimate, but the ban rate is so much lower, because the odds of being reported as nil.
The online indicator just means they were online at some point in the past 24 hours, methinks. It's a stupid vB setting that can't be changed.

Still has not taken the time to message me on skype... It wouldn't be that hard seeing as he is ONLINE...
The Unintelligible tells me he is legit, and that he trusts him and I think I believe him, but the fact that it just looks like he is ignoring me makes me think that he scammed me
Gosh the stress if KILLING me. When you're waiting for something to happen and it could either be really bad or really good. Just kills.

Dude, chill. Deep breaths. Slow. Focus on the breathing. Just think about the air slowly entering and leaving your nose/mouth. It'll be okay.

I'm looking at the logs on my Skype where I said it was formerly owned by someone else who hasn't logged in since around 2007 or so and you acknowledging that, asking if it could be recovered by the previous owner etc. I will say making a thread on a forum will draw attention to it if Gaia actually cares enough to check. Every single transaction I make, I warn them that there is a chance of ban and if they are willing to risk it etc. I never lie on my transactions, I'm straight up with them so they know what they are getting into beforehand.
I'm not on LG much anymore, and Skype I try to keep to friends only. Idk what you are stressing out over, I personally went over our logs and you had a clear understanding of everything at the time.

I did, and the only reason that me being worried came up was because someone informed me that (and keep in mind I was very ignorant on the subject) that all the items you have are hacked items, and I was going to get banned for buying from you..
When you didn't reply after days and days, I just assumed that he was probably right, because you'd have no other reason to ignore me.
But after the mods and other people giving vouches for you it made me feel a little better.
Btw don't take this the wrong way. You're right, I was completely aware of the chance of being banned prior to the trade. However I didn't think it was a very high chance, and then when someone told me that he knew you and now the chance of me being banned was almost certain. That really worried me. When he (ryan/butts) told me that (and i had no other experience buying/selling anything on gaia) i figured you had just lied to me and were pretty sure I was going to get banned. That is why I was stressed, and what I was stressing over.

You should leave a rep post in his rep topic. I am surprised there wasn't more in there.

He literally asked me in IM for rep comments that other people have made. But unfortunately Tree's red thread was a little bare.

I didn't even know I have a rep thread.
