@Wadafak! (nice username, by the way): It's not that you can't so much as that google says it's an attack site. Gaia had wordfiltered tektek and automatically removed tektek images and links for a while, but it seems to be back now. I guess someone slipped a virus in or perhaps it was a false positive. A shame, really, that it wasn't one of us that had planted a virus there. It'd have been nice to phish the accounts of every gaian that uses tektek.

Keyloggers can force logouts and one can also steal cookies that have login info with relative ease... assuming someone is stupid enough to perform an installation or something. If it's at all possible to have some sort of in-browser keylogger masked as a 'new' tektek toolbar. In fact, that could probably still be used without tektek. Just make a dummy account on gaia and ask some questions about making a toolbar in the tech forum (so it doesn't seem like it's coming from left field) and then launch one. BAM, tons of people get caught.
Also, there's the whole .hta thing that a ton of people on 4chan fell for. Get someone to run a .hta file and suddenly, they lose control of their browser and potentially their computer. Botnets, phishing and the like are possible.
Just throwing out hypotheticals here.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

It basically infects you with a java exploit, also known as a java driveby virus. It downloads a keylogger, RAT, etc.. onto your PC via java, without needing your permission. I use Microsoft Security Essentials, it picks it up automatically.

How NOT to get pwned: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware + Microsoft Security Essentials. There are a few viruses that target people with MS Security Essentials.
And why are you guys worrying about getting infected? BE THE INFECTORS GOD DAMN WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Tektek began advertising gaia phishing sites.
Thats why.
Humans yawn when they think of it.
