Didn't see a topic about this so why not?
What does everyone think of Kendrick Lamar?
I believe I first listened to a song of his in 2011.
Although the song was a freestyle and not really a great song in itself, I remember thinking "this guy's a pretty good rapper".
Now Swimming Pools drops and all of a sudden he's famous. I took a look over some of his older albums, and I really have to say he has some good songs.
Thought I'd contribute a list of a few songs I really like and their respective albums.
Section.80
Section 80 is a great album with some great music and some really chill beats.
However, I don't really like a lot of the songs he does about love.
Don't get me wrong I like that he tries to rap about relevant things, I just don't think a lot of the songs he did about love came out very well. In any case though, the message behind them is really great and overall, in my opinion, Section 80 is a great album.
A.D.H.D - This song isn't really a favorite but it's tolerable, not quite a winner.

Chapter Six - A really chill little song, like the chorus.

Ronald Reagan Era (His Evil) - This really a strong example of his good rapping skills.

Rigamortis - Another real chill song, a good chorus, and good rapping.

HiiiPower - Perhaps my favorite song on the entire album. Great flow, great rapping, interesting stuff.

good kid, m.A.A.d city
All I'm going to say about this album is that I can definitely see why it was one of the defining pieces of his musical career.
Going to leave out listening some good songs so you can find them for yourself.
Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe - Right off the bat, good beat, good rapping. Great song. Favorite.

Recipe - Another must listen. Really. Some of his best stuff.

I really was enamored with some of the songs in good kid, m.A.A.d city.
It didn't make him my favorite rapper, but it put him pretty high on my list for a few of those songs.
Don't stop here though, check out his other work. He only has 2 official albums, but there's also a few mixtapes to listen to.
All in all, good rapper, good songs. However, his skills are frequently blown out of proportion by World Star Hip Hop type fan boys.
He's good, but not amazing. What do you think?
TLDR;
This is Kendrick Lamar, check out his music.

Heard of this dude. Sure a few others here have as well, but I wouldn't count on a bevy of users able to relate.
Thanks for sharing. Maybe I'll listen to a couple of his songs now and give you feedback.

You can see his oldest work if you search the artist K Dot.
He changed the name he went by at some point, i don't remember the exact reason.
This guy has been my favorite rapper since his mixtape, Overly Dedicated.
Made by Use.
used to be known as the once fabled "Ethan," Slayer of Theocules, Bringer of Rain!
