Nigger

H2O got banned for his quite bias version of this thread, and I want to outline my basic argument.

Claim: Nigger is considered a racist term when used by white people
Claim: Black people use the term Nigger often, and it is not considered racist
Claim: Racism is the discrimination of one race, or skin color, against another
Therefor: Black people are being racist by being allowed to use the term nigger themselves but not allowing white people to use the term.

Debate seems to be a discussion of racism, not an act of racism itself.

this is the way it is.
The term "nigger" was a term that was created to describe people of color, not black people. if you have ever studied or known anyone from India, they were called "nigger" too. People that were Asian in the early days of english and western influence called Asians "nigger" as well.
There is nothing to show that it was a term that was solely for black people. it is a term for people with more pigmentation in their skin, it is not a slur for a specific people, it was used for people of all color, minus the caucasions.

people from a caucoidal background deemed the term correct for people of color by people that were white.

it is a racial slur, but it is not used solely for blacks, it was used for all people of color. it has all together become a single slur for blacks through the years. it has become simplitized for the sake of singularity and ignorance believing in racial superiority.

that is the story behind it for how is racial.

the reason blacks use the word is supposed to be for racial empowerment, and to create a sense of taking back from the oppressors of slavery. it is now used as a normal slang word, all meaning of empowerment drained from it making nothing more than verbal ignorance.

I fail to see how that is an argument. It seems like just you being condescending about something we could have learned just as well from WikiPedia.

We, say nigga not nigger. Its like when somebody calls you stupid or retarded you get mad, but when you call yourself stupid or retarded your feelings don't get hurt at all, it not we want to get mad just when white people say it, we do, because everytime a white person does say it, it is a term of racism. That's why we get offended, and you can't think of yourself just, because when you say it, black people get mad and you don't mean it that way, every white person make it seem as a term of racism so that is what we will take it as.(I'm only half black)

i'm not being condescending. i was merely stating that people have taken the word out of context to an extreme extent in its use by people today. blacks use the word with no context any more. it seems like all it is used for is a good song filler or something for them to say whenever they cant think of something to branch together a sentence.

it has no meaning anymore until it is exploded out of some 2-bit comedian's mouth, or some untalented musician that is trying to get his sales up or make him "edgey."

that sounds like black people are racist when compared to whites. you can say it all you want but that is racist in itself. if you feel hatred towards whites for their ignorance and use of the word, then that makes you racist for hating a white person due to their ignorance.


there is no point for racism or the use of that word for any reason at all. we are all equal. no one is any different, its only ignorance that makes us believe so.

Just because a white person says it automatically makes it racist? Where's the logic in that?
What if he/she is just trying to get along.

It's hard to see how two black people can say it when referring to one another, and when white people say it it automatically turns into a racist matter.

I live in the deep south and as a white man I face more racism than any other skin colored person because how overly sensitive people are about the "past injustices". Government has set up countless programs that reward you for being a certain race and punish you for being a different race.
