I stop giving people intellectual credibility when they say that sexism doesn't exist
I agree, I hate sexism and its obviously still around because gender roles are still all over the place even in media. I get tired of people telling me " you can't wear that/like that/watch that it's for girls" So what if I have a hello kitty phone case and a keychain big deal!

A) Not with that attitude.
B) They absolutely can be improved, whether or not done away with entirely, and saying it's not worth improving them is incredibly sexist.

I'm not saying don't work to improve them I'm just saying that you are never going to have a perfect world. 50% of the US denies evolution. The Middle East basically denies women are human. Africa does ungodly things to them. There is human traffic in the US. I just accept the fact as they are. We can work to change them but the same problems more or less have plagued humanity since the beginning and they don't really seem to get solved, just moved around or disguised.

Sexism is everywhere, of course.
We've got American, white male privilege. It doesn't get any better than where we're at. There are also more jobs, and higher paying jobs specifically for men than there are women too.
We're also expected to live up to societies standards.

No, you said fighting it won't eradicate it entirely. And even if it doesn't, it's still worth fighting it to decrease sexist application.

Ok then. So we agree? Other than I'm apathetic about the issue and you aren't.
Realistically, I think we can fix the "glass ceiling" and fix gender bias in the work place. Other than that I don't believe you'll ever get anywhere. The most effective method in my opinion would be an update to gender roles, removal would be hard but you could continue to change the gender roles so that they were more equal. However when someone tells me that women that dress as women, wear makeup, and let men hold the door for them are hurting the cause I tend to think they' re an idiot.
Gender roles are changing. The things we consider "taboo" and think will never catch on are exactly what will catch on. Just think a few generations back. A modern day woman was a taboo, rebel. It was a "phase," and it was "ungodly." And now women can have dyed hair and tattoos and piercings and sloppy clothing and men's clothing (though we haven't accepted men in women's clothing yet; because apparently there's something wrong with being womanly but not manly), and people consider it looking normal. And it is. It was not long ago at all that we thought otherwise.
We won't reach a perfect philosophical agreement about the sexes across the entire planet, no. Obviously not. And my house will never be made out of solid gold on a beautiful mountain Norway, but that doesn't mean I want to be homeless either. There are repairs to be made, so do them. It's really more to do with just being a decent human being. Normalizing sexism is problematic, and apathy is either willful ignorance or immoral.
Yeah I happened along this before on Facebook, it does suck that people think that way even if they do it subconsciously. I play a few games like LOTRO and others with a friend and we both have mage and tank characters. All his characters are male but when he talks about his mage he says 'her' or 'she' without realizing it and when I get on my tank he refers to it as a 'he' or 'him'. Just like when people think of cat they think girl and when they think of dog they think boy, everyone is basically programmed to think this way without realizing it most of the time. Sexism is quite the problem in this world but it's only one of many.

Yes, it is socially ingrained. It's not something evolutionary though. We can override it and refrain from teaching it to others. It just takes practice.

I know it's wrong, but most Americans are far too self-absorbed to realize that there are more pressing issues than a woman's salary. That's even if they care about women's salaries in the first place.
Not even talking about salaries. Talking about education. Stereotype threat hinders the American education system for women significantly, and not only is it normalized, it's promoted in almost every form of common media.
