Dell Studio XPS 8000 or Dell Studio 17?

I recently stated that I was going to buy a new computer after Christmas but I had no clue what to go for, after a while of taking things into consideration such as looks, capability and all that other stuff, I've narrowed it down to these two, one is a desktop and one is a laptop, only thing is I can't decide which one.
The Desktop (XPS 8000) Is considerably more powerful and not that much more expensive, including an i7 processor, a high end graphics card, eight gb ram and a load of other beast stuff. However at the moment I have a laptop and I like having the ability to take it with me, I am also using a laptop that is considerably low in all aspects of a good computer however the only things that bug me with it is battery life, not being able to run games without lag and not having a big enough screen.

So with all that taken into consideration which do you think I should get and don't just say the desktop because its more powerful, I already know that.

If you want more specs on the computers I will add them on request.

I suggest a Macbook Pro. Specs not as good as that one but overall build quality is better. And not to mention that Os x would be perfect for you.

As much as I want Os X I'd want to be able to play games too.

Dual boot using Bootcamp.

I'd also have to consider the price because I wouldn't get anything smaller than a 17"

I'd go for the desktop if you like to play games.

Well trust me the 17inch macbook pro is really big. It's like you own a desktop. You could go for the 15inch without having any problems that the screen is to small. You can play games on it as Thomas said with Bootcamp and is the perfect envirement for a designer. If you really like beast performance for games than choose desktop as it is the best for it though you'll loose the mobility but since you have the older laptop you could clean up that and only use it for design or internet while on road.

What exactly are you trying to do? Check out this website its really good with custom computers and there pretty cheap.
