Sex and Violence in Video Games. A great success, or a horrible mistake?

1997: Dave Jones develops Grand Theft Auto, left, which spawns a billion-dollar franchise and public controversy over violence and sex in video games.

I think that if grand theft auto, the first game to release sex and violence in video games, was never released, video games would be a hell of a lot different. What do you guys think?

Death Race was the first violent video game. You ran people over for point. It was protested earnestly to no avail. With out it there would be no Grand Theft Auto

Video game violence and such is not bad. Most people can handle it, but there are people that can't distinguish reality from game.
The only bad effect is the games and movie desensitize everyone to the violence and smut. So we become more accepting of it all and the crazy people get ideas.

Oh, i knew that, i meant the first game you can purchase for your own use at home.

But yeah i do see what you're saying.

im pretty sure the first game that came from a horror movie was halloween for the nes(nintendo entertainment system)

tbh, this has been around since video games started to exist. There were countless pornographic Atari games, and I'm not even kidding.

ya people that cant handle it and kill random ass people ._.

A world without violent video games....that would suck no video games like halo would even exist! and if they did it would be about helping and shearing neither of those are exhilarating!

I don't see it as much of a big deal.

No, I love violent video games.

I'm just saying I don't consider them a big problem.
There's some people who think violent video games should be removed

I heard they just renamed it on that version, the map still exists, it's just altered.

A world without Gta would be a worse world for video games. Not as much video violence, nor sex in the games.
#14
Only games like Driver would be affected, and Saints row and that kinda shit cause they based it off GTA.

Quite honestly I think the craze over if it is right or wrong is pure BS. You see violence everywhere else (movies, ads, REAL LIFE)

If GTA didn't exist or not games would still be filled violence, sex, and drugs.

ha, wow... just think of the difference xD

AO video games were the limit in awesome. But since the "Hot Coffee" scandal, we will never see another AO video game. Cravings for grotesque violence will never be satiated again because of a few guys online messing with encrypted data.

but i remember one AO game, Blood Hunt for the PS1. I watched my friend blasting through experimental autrocities and gutting people with a bowie knife. It was amazing.

I wish AO games were allowed again.

Well violent games shouldn't be that bad, it's all based on peoples minds and how they interpret the games. I honestly think that if violent video games weren't around, then some people would want to do those violent acts because they didn't know of consequences. Games like GTA show that if you do a bad thing, cops are gonna be on your ass :l

if it was released then ....now it would be like porn games lol

itd be diff
the games would be different because people would nevere think of havnig that kind of content in games
