Bans
As far as users go, warnings should be more solid and severe. All an infraction is gonna do is discourage spam, its not gonna stop it. Now if the user is new and feels that the warning should be enough, the spam will stop.
Users that need to be banned should be banned. And users that are regretful and shape-up should be left alone. But users need to have something hanging over their head other than just getting a warning. Bans should be handed out when they are warranted.
@Rape: Oh, wow. Then don't do something wrong, FFS. Are you serious?
I think a valid alternative to bans - after warnings, but before bans - is a post count reset. Since most the spam here is a result of the post requirements for UG, a post count reset (or deduction) would greatly get the point across. For flaming and being an overall cunt (outside of the JY), a warning is fine. If it's continued, ban them. But for spam, it can go warning -> post reset -> ban.
I've been sending verbal warnings to spammers through PMs, after that, reports of said user that received the verbal warning results in an infraction. 2 infractions from me leads to a 2 week ban with an explanation/small how to not spam guide in the ban reason, failure to comply after that leads to a perma ban.
I think GAMEchief's idea is really good. A post deduction would really get the point across. If it happens multiple times, then just ban them.
Whatever man. This is not JY, and flaming isn't accepted there either, now is it? Or do you even care about there? No.
Just because you aren't doing your job and banned him a long time ago for flaming and I had to step in and get a point across, doesn't mean you need to say I'm flaming.
I'm not doing my "job"? Dude, I've banned over 20 people this week, infracted over 50, unapproved/deleted/moved a shitton of posts and threads. I told you already, I don't do shit without checking it out myself, bitch and moan all you want, it won't make things go faster. Keep it up and you'll find yourself banned. You can't see what we do in the background, so stop pretending to.
That'd be great, if we actually had a method of shoving someone into "jailed" status. Smods cant change anything about a member, such as their usergroups and where their LGG goes, the most I can do is ban.
obviously scammers are of a higher priority than spammers, but each must be dealt with faster than they currently are, because scammers are bad and as are leakers that are slowly inching their way to UG Silver and better programs that would be null if they got leaked to other sites.
both need to be dealt with accordingly, and with faster reaction since scammers arent really around that much but spammers are overly active now.
Boobearsh have a good point and idea.
This will help us be aware of who we are trading with..
Until theres more middlemans..
Which is the point of choosing someone to be a middleman that you can trust. Don't make $300 transactions over an Internet game. And if you are that rich, then just buy Gaia cash with it. I can't fathom a real life example of transactions that large that couldn't be more appropriately made legitimately.
@Middleman script,
I can do that if it just involves accounts.
Well if it was real, then they'd have some sort of proof to give me wouldn't they?
Indeed, which is why when Alex comes back, he'll see a thread in staff discussion where we discuss possible candidates. You can stop hint hinting there bro.
Ok guys, this arguing isn't getting us anywhere. This is pretty much spamming (obviously not for Torian since he is an SMod anyways, but half of you guys are probably just fighting to rack up some quick posts). The ban response time could be a little faster than it currently is, but that will come with more mods being accepted.
Actually FoRSparta, it's a discussion on how to further improve LG and increase the security of the site, thus making it not spam.
o_o I don't talk about the upcoming patches/upgrades/wutevers, I just mentioned that we know that LG needs more mods and are discussing it. Besides, didn't Alex just get back from his vacation like yesterday? I would imagine things will start picking up soon.
Well I'd imagine that getting "back" refers to back home, he isn't the type of personality that'd put hopping straight on the computer before unpacking and resting so just give him time. Things still arent so bad at the moment.
