Member of the Month

I think we should have a Member of the Month sorta contest that is a running contest between the members. Who ever is the most active and most helpful during each month, based upon vote and nominations based on the LG population, should be named Member of the Month.

No special strings attatched, but maybe a small prize, like 50k LGG, or something like gold for gaia, or RS, or maple, or Neo. And a little thing on their user info bar that says Member of the Month, and the amount of times that they were elected and won. Think of it as a Super-Rep.

Of course staff would have a final say on who is the member of the month, if the population vote is close, obviously if it is one-sided, that person would win.

Rules would basically be, you can nominate anyone, but yourself. And if you nominate someone new, they would have to be reviewed by someone on the staff. Staff cant be nominated as Member of the Month, any level of staff to prevent cheating.

Yes I know the idea is stolen, but it should help promote activity on the site.

Drama alarm is going off. Nice idea and all but, all it's going to turn into is people appearing to be nice when they're just trying to get the 50k on the 31st of the month. Nice idea, but I don't see it going too great...

How about just making it silver (or bronze) only? I think that's kind of the point, making people seem nice.

Thats kinda what I mean. Its obvious I'm not Silver, but both Silver and senior Bronze, and either way I dont really care if I were to get it or not, its about promoting good will between members, and to promote activity.

@Michael: The fact that it would breed drama a little would mean nothing, since its not worse than rep or something like that, or rank, its just a little bit of credability that is given to members that deserve it. All members have to remember is that its all a good contest and to not take it personally if you dont win. Look at it as fun and to see who is the most giving members.

and to maybe make it better, you cant win MoM (member of the month) 2 months in a row, there has to be a new MoM every month. Healthy competition. Nothing more.

Eh, quite frankly, I approve of this, just because I'd wanna see how many people vote for me. Waste of time, those votes are. xD. It's like my Boobearsh for President threads(OMG I should bring those back).

well, i already know you would win more than once just because you are liked by almost every member (polar opposites of long ago, no?).

But i know its going to be a popularity contest, mainly because it is almost. But it should be based on other things. But if it means it will cause members to be more active, then so be it.

And for the love of whatever there is, dont bring those back. the JY may never recover.

JY is so fucking dead compared to what it use to be. Use to be two to three pages of new threads a day. Now we're lucky for half of one to one.

Yes, but hopefully this whole MoM thing will change that for the most part. It should generate a good bit of activity in all sections of the site to make it more competitive for MoM elections.

Well, since people would have to be nominated, mostly UG Silver, and Senior UG Bronze, spammers wouldnt really matter. And double accounts can be found to stop double votes and cheating.

And besides, you have to be a good member to win (obviously). So its open to any member, except staff (That includes programmers for obvious reasons).

i do think this a great idea actualy.

That is generally what I mean. If you contribute to the site, and of course that means more than accounts and shit like that, because anyone can do that, i mean actually contributing, then you should be shown a little appreciation, and what better way then a consensus of the people on LG, then just a few?

Like releasing guides and shit like that?

Team are basically staff when it comes down to it, but yes, team members should be able to compete, as long as they remain honest, and dont use their programming skills for evil.

And yea i know it will cause drama, but at least it will cause drama over a good thing, not something retarded.
