Tips for a newb?
So, I'm going through Emerald like I normally play through Pokemon games - like a 10-year-old. I don't know anything about IVs or EVs or anything like that, just the basic Water, Fire, Grass pyramid lol.
I think I'm going to play through Ruby utilizing this knowledge though, and see how much it makes a difference compared to my playthrough of emerald. Or does none of that stuff matter when you're playing offline?
Anyway, anyone have links to guides or anything like that, or could you explain some of the basic concepts?
Would be sweet, thanks.
Yeah, when you're playing offline don't worry too much about EV's and IV's. EV's are basically bonus stats that you get from beating pokemon. In example a rhydom might give 2 EV's to defense for defeating it. IV's are internally generated bonus stats. They're really just for perfecting stats for online play.
I know Cl03y wrote a great tutorial on EVing for me in one of these threads but I'm having a bitch of a time finding it
i tried to find cloeys post earlier but hthe search functions on LG are weird as fuck.
Well if anyone can find it that would be awesome. This kind of stuff has always interested me, maybe I could utilize it and start playing online or something haha. I used to have a friend that was OBSESSED with pokemon, everyone else who loved pokemon at my school wouldn't even battle him because he was so OP. It was insane, he was amazing at the game and training his pokemon and stuff, they were literally in the highest percentile haha. I would ask him to teach me about it, but he's off to college now. (Well, not really, he's working at a Target to get money for college)
I've used Serebii for a few things, but I've never heard of the one that you linked Fluttershy. I'll have to check it out, seems useful. I think I'm going to look up all of the tips and tricks for the pokemon I have on heart gold, or maybe buy Soul Silver and start from new on that looking up the pokemon I catch on that website as I go, so that I can teach them all of the best stuff from the lowest levels, or know when to not evolve them or stuff like that haha.
