So, I got a Android phone a while ago and I have unlimited text, but they want to charge me 30$ extra for a data plan to receive the picture messaging part of it. Is there a way I can receive mms without paying for the data plan?

You can use Google Voice to receive text messages (and I believe picture messages) for free. And google has made integration with it in the Android OS almost perfect (It has Leo laporte approval).
