Ukulele Help?

Does anyone that plays help me. Im reading my book and Im trying to figure the number system used to me Major, Minor and 7th Diminished Chords. Links or help would be apperciated.

Bottom four strings of the guitar, I believe are the base for ukulele.
What numbers system? All music is universally notated.

My book has numbers instead of notes...

It shows like 5flat on the 1st string 1st freat and 4th string 3rd fret...

5 is E.
1st fret is Eb.
top and bottom are both E, just an octave apart.

Damn. What is each notes number? That would help
