Should LG Impliment A Thanks Button?
It was put in the suggestions area, and people mostly said they were in support of a thanks button. Now this is officially a debate, and I've included a poll.

... Um, that was more official in the suggestion box than here...

Anyways, I agree on a Thanks button. When you click someone else's thanks button, it should give you a choice to either Give Thanks or View Thanked... So we know if the people giving thanks are different and not 100 random accounts he just made.
#3
It still didn't work in the Suggestions box, so maybe we can get some support here
#4
well that sure beats having to type "thanks" for the person :]
#5
Fuck and Google, would you mind posting why you don't want a thanks button?
#6
As I was the one who suggested it, I obviously thik it is a great idea to have one. There is no way to understand it if you have an overly objective view on it, which most of those who said no have. Boo came up with the most foward idea on it, being able to see who gave the thanks, and since even the most basic thanking system only allows one thank per member, it would be easy to see who thanked what, and if that person made multiple accounts, if that person was abusing it, and every former staff member knows that there are ways that multiple accounts are detected.

Obviously a poll vote in yes for me.
#7
82% said yes, 18% said no, and the 2 people that said no haven't commented on why. :/
#8
Terrible system is terrible. I posted my response originally in the topic.

No offense but it seems like it would just be another pointless thing to further complicate life.
We already have iTrade and its basically meaning less.

Except for the fact that thanks and iTrader are barely related. You could thank somebody for posting something. Especially in Warez, since posting thanks is rather spammy, and often grave-digging, a simple "Thanks" button will make people (me) feel better about uploading. It will also attract more quality uploads because people will want thanks, instead of just post count.

Its just another arbitrary system with no mean that will be abuse by some and ignored by others. Its a waste of time and also it will encourage mule accounts and excludes those not involved in warez if we assume its for warez for example.

Moved to JY, why the hell would you post it in GD? It was already in Suggestions.
#12
the reason why i havent post is cause people already said what i was going to say

It was ignored in suggestions. There was more than a super-majority and you guys didn't even pay attention to it.
#16
He is post hungry.

It's not a huge deal or something big enough to be argued over. It's just a small simple suggestion that would be nice if it's implemented but I don't see it making a change in posts or how the posting style works
#18
i agree with the thanks button but there will need to be some method to keep people from abusing it like when rep used to be on the old LG
#19
Thanks button, useless.

Now that we've implemented Warez, and now that we've taken out post count, people have less incentive to post. None, in fact. If every thanks in the Warez section got you x amount of LG, people would want to post more good shit.

Majority doesn't matter. This isn't a democracy. Mods already decided. Case closed.
The a pat on the back for warez. You put up good stuff and other people do the same. You shouldn't need a reward. Logical.
#22
its pointless because people can easily click it without reading your post. i would rather have them post with a reason why they think its useful..
to me that would be more meaningful.

theres my comment

The will of the people should be represented in the will of the government.

You don't think they can both make a constructive comment AND click the thanks button? Also, making a constructive comment is more often than not considered gravedigging in Guides sections and in Warez
#25
A Thanks button isn't necessary. It is pointless.

A: It would allow people to "give thanks" to somebody without needing to post. Posting can be excessive, gravedigging, and spammy.
B: It would give incentive for people to make good threads in both Guides and Warez
#27
i agree with cc
c. people can abuse it
#28
There is no such thing as a good thread.
It's guaranteed there is at least one error in every thread.
Perfection is impossible, so why even try arriving at it?
And, if you got rid of posting, what would you call this website?
A deposit store?
Forums call for heavy amounts of posting.
No such thing as too many posts, which you demonstrated by posting 100 threads in a few hours the other day.

Not a government. Its a web site.
Mob rule is worse that totalitarian system as its basically anarchy.

You are saying that because there is no such thing as a perfect thread there is no such thing as a good one? No such thing as one that provides something that somebody needs. I'm not talking about perfection.

I'm not talking about getting rid of posting, I'm talking about getting rid of useless "thanks" posts. They gravedig and they spam.

Who the fuck is going to make 50 accounts, bring them up to 50 posts, then like his own thread. It's so much easier just to get good warez and post them up. Abuse is unlikely.
#32
Who cares if people abuse it its not like they win a prize or anything they got it from them selves not everyone .

Sounds like you're posting your own reasons for not bothering with the warez section.

It's a website that has a government.
You are getting rid of the line between democracy and mob rule. They are two different concepts. Though Arti can look at everything we say with a grain of salt, if enough people want it, and since it wouldn't cause to much mayhem, it should be added.

What do you mean not bothering with the Warez section? I've made more contributions than any other poster.
#36
I don't feel like arguing about this.
But, you talk about majority, and majority says "No."

Poll says yes.

You reposted a bunch of shit off of Warez-bb.

Anyone and their dog can do that if they wanted to up their post-count.

Yeah, and Thomas mirrored plenty of stuff, so AT LEAST one person found it to be useful.

Except for the fact that I obviously wasn't doing it for post count, because post count was turned off.

The poll is not majority.
