Anybody interested in assuming role of top dog
So it's fairly obvious that I don't visit this site much, and from a talk I had with gameCHIEF it seems neither does he. It's pretty unfair, since there are people who visit this forum regularly, which is why I thought I'd gauge interest to see if there's anybody who'd like to take on ownership of the site?

I guess if you're interested, PM me why and what you'd do.

GAMEchief loves LG as much as he wouldn't like to admit it. :p

Ownership should go to him (if it isn't already)

edit: Also it's a shame you're stepping down after all these years as admin. You'll be missed, comrade.

Tbh, I'll prob be around more if I wasn't owner.
All I do right now is pay the bills.

edit: I'm happy to keep paying the bills if someone still wants to put their name forward.

;_; you cant do this

If Game will keep doing what he's doing and TU will help, I'll do it.
How much does cost to keep the lights on? If it's something I can manage I'll even take over financially.
You can PM the details if that works better.

At the very least we can keep the forum alive. People definitely have made certain sections their home.

UM SEI WUT.

Are you working on something else? The forums are dead unfortunately so that's probably why you're leaving.

Dis is bad ;-;

I am too new to really offer and personally I'd like to see it go to Charles. He is here more than he might want to admit.

I can do what I've been doing. Only reason I can't take it on is the additional roles.

Then I'm in. I basically was acting admin for a bit before you took over and re-organized.
I've a couple ideas about things we could implement but I'd want to gauge community interest/feasibility of drawing people to communities.

Good luck to whomever receives the position! I've been a member of this site for a long time. Have watched it grow and fade. If you decide to pass down the torch, make sure that the person is trusted. Preferably someone that has had a moderator or administrative position in the past or present. I feel that this website is slowly coming to it's death if changes are not made. Most everyone that was big into Gaiaonline several years ago have went on to better things....real life things. Gaiaonline was a staple of this website. Now the forums do not get as much traffic as they used to. I personally only come on to check out the art forum and post updated photographs. I would love to see this website grow it's strength to the point where it once was, but as it looks now....I do not know if that is possible.

No one on LG, that I'm aware of, wants Gaia to be the focus any more it's just sort there because it's always been there. I have some ideas about tools and features we could sort of put up on the site to try and start a community around some games, but those are just games I play. What we need to do is either get a measure of what the people that are already here would like out of the site or find a community to just start catering to and try and grow offshoot. The latter is not the preferable avenue because the point in keeping LG alive is that it should remain LG.

Charles is big in to DOTA and Steam, as a result he put some work into making a small community here for that. I also see potential in doing some sort of party finder for Destiny and getting some focus around that, or I did. Bungie seems pretty hellbent on just destroying the community for that game. I want to explore us doing news again so that we have some sort of daily content and start some sort of game of the month club where the community votes on a game and either there is a dedicated LG goon squad in the game that month to play with or we have someone on run a feature and stream/comment on gameplay of that game. But those are just my thoughts what LG really needs if for the group to decide what is next and all work together on making that happen.

I think you said a lot of good things coffin, maybe we could put out a formal feedback survey through some google form/docs that could aggregate some data for staff to contemplate moving forward.

Indeed. I want to do some more research put somethings together. I'm in the middle of some personal stuff right now but I'm hoping to have something like that ready after next month.

I love gaia and all; not saying that you should get rid of it but I don't think it deserves its own tab. I love the mp and the tools but it shouldn't be the focus, I agree. This site could be so much more geared toward being a place for online gamers to hang out.

Gaia and Neopets are still heavily focused because of SEO. They draw in the vast majority of traffic to this website. Their tabs will probably always exist. But it doesn't need to be the focus to draw in traffic; just need a viable alternative.

I dig Steam-supported games, but it doesn't seem like the community is as big into Steam as moi.

Right, we can't cut a legacy forum and a traffic draw. No, reason to dump the content that's there if people want it.

True, but our community is small and it's unlikely we have a uniting interest beyond LG, so we have to pick something and run with it. Even if we don't love it if half do and the rest have even passing interest then we devote some time to building content and try to attract a new community around that.
