I bought hosting cause I'm irresponsible and now I have nothing to do with it.

Using HTTP wrappers is for noobs who need abstraction. Direct calls to libraries is for pros -- clean code is for scrubs.

The last HTTP wrapper I've made and used was a long time ago.
