Nah, Kwanzaa is a bullshit holiday. Where my family comes from, Nigeria, we don't even recognize Kwanzaa. Most people in Nigeria don't even know that it exists. It is a holiday created by Hallmark, according to my father. Haha.

Well Christmas isn't exactly the most real holiday either. Neither is Hanukkah. Commercialism is the central point to most major religious holidays in this day and age.

I'm merely say we live in a country where Christianity is that majority and was founded on Christian principles. You can be Jewish and celibate your holiday, but shut up about it.

You don't affiliate Hanukkah with the Jewish race, you affiliate it with the religion. There is a difference.

And being Jewish has both a race and religious connotation. And pretty much all Jews celebrate Hanukkah.
But not all African-Americans celebrate Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is affiliated with Africans, but it was created out of the need for an official "black" holiday in the 1960's...Sort of like that black nationalism feeling. Therefore, it has been linked to being celebrated by members of groups like the Black Panther Party...The meaning of Kwanzaa is to get in touch with the ancestral roots of the African family.
But, I'm a first generation Nigerian-American. Meaning, my parents are from Nigeria (born and raised) but I was born in America. I know my African culture, and in my culture...we don't observe Kwanzaa at all. It 's a dumb holiday, I would be glad if they got rid of it completely.
