url masking
is it possible to make a url look different than it is, not like bit.ly though
or to make it so the url doesn't appear on a page?

Depends on what you're trying to do. Can you change the domain? No. Can you mask the file name? Yes.

I imagine you are wanting to mask the domain for FLP-esque reasons, in which case, the answer is no.

oh okay :(
thanks though

Buying a domain but it would be a waste since its just for a FLP.

Not sure about masking the URL you're sending to the other person when using, say, an FLP, however, once the person loads the page look into using history.replaceState() with HTML5. It'll update the current page's URL to mask where the person actually is. Don't know if it applies to a separate domain though such as changing http://webhost.com/FTP/ to Log In | Gaia Online. I don't think so though, if not there isn't really anything you'd accomplish with this if you're using it for an FLP.

You want obfuscation? I got you bro. For example:

http://58948294758392@3495255119

Try that URL

Or:
http://forum.logicalgamers.com@3495255119

Could you do that through meebo? Or only works when posting.

You can do it on any website, all it requires is some multiplication and addition ;) I can teach you how to do it with any URL if you want, or do it for you if that's easier.

That's really cool, flair.
But i think that would look even more suspicious than a bit.ly XD

No, look:

http://gaiaonline.com-grant-AdminGoldGrant@2915183400

That redirects to google, not actually Gaia.

Or, for example:

http://adminpanel.gaiaonline.com@1822983786

Redirects to I Can Haz Cheezburger!

I could make a URL that looks like an official Gaia URL redirect to your FLP, but the only problem is your FLP can't be a subdomain (eg. yourflphere.x10.mx, for this to work it has to be yourflphere.com or yourflphere.info or yourflphere.org or something like that, no subdomains like .x10.mx or .webs.com or any of that.)

lol that's the only way I know how to do it, to be honest.
Unless you to a co.nr domain cover name for an FLP or something. But you can even have it just go right to a FLP

http://www.gaiaonline.com/specialevent

(of course, Google being the FLP)

Sounds good, anything in specific you want the URL to be?
