You misunderstand. I handled this situation perfectly. Being mod doesn't warrant me to sugar coat it. Simply put: Taz is a retard. I warned/infracted him for it. It can't get any simpler than that.

I think you need to look back at this situation from square 1. Taz is throwing a fit right now and what you're doing is enabling him.
I'll do my job and you do yours. I don't see any other way of dealing with this. I handled it the best way I know how and it's been pretty effective thus far until you intervened.
