Advertising cheating/illegit forums on gaia is like trying to [get a vegan to eat meat, explain evolution to a super religious person, etc...?]

I've tried advertising a lot and you just get flamed even though the mod's take a really long time to delete your threads

Nah, back when I played Gaia/Runescape legitimately, a lot of people would go to links for gold selling websites and stuff.

well, when I advertised last year no one ever clicked any of the links or went to the site

LG's most popular times in its history were following adspam on Gaia, so it apparently works. I'm going to put a feature in the Logical Gaia userscript that will mass PM everyone on an account's friend's list. But that will have to come after I get the referrer plugin added, that way members who use it will be rewarded on LG.
