Key loggers.... and rats?
Hi,
I'm trying to find more information about Key loggers and rats.
I get that key loggers save what ever was typed on the keyboard and screen shots, but now how to get the attached to a victim.
I heard someone talking about RATs also, which I don't quite get. And I can't find much info. about them.

If used correctly and very well these two could get an admins or mods password?
Also saw responses to what skrillex said in a different thread about key loggers and rats that it would be nearly impossible...?

Admins and mods are usually locked to a certain IP so there's pretty much no use in stealing them.

There are white listed IP's though, that are able to be logged into from any IP
I just learned about this stuff today

And those whitelisted IPs would just so happen to be a rouge IP address? No. Doesn't work like that. Only the mod/admin machine would be able to access the respective accounts.

Just count "hacking" a Gaia staff member out.

Haha, okay.
Thanks.

I'm just scrambling through options still.

Keyloggers are basically attached to .exe files and are installed onto a computer without someones knowledge through those means. RAT's are done the same way, but in brief, RAT's have far more access to the actual computer. Keyloggers will only record what the computer's strokes and clicks (inputs to the computer) while RAT's create a backdoor into the computer, giving you the ability to access their computer in real time, view their desktop, download their files, etc.

Thanks.
So I guess it wouldn't really be possible to get these onto the mods computer in the first place? xD

Neither does haxing a mod.

And yes, admins obviously won't give two shits about any RAT' links you send them other than banning you

Mmk
Didn't know if mods had any useful powers like granting or finding emails to accounts

Most mod's don't get that power, for the very reason they're more susceptible to being hacked. While admins literally don't do anything. If an admin is going to dl something or do anything at all, they're going to do it on a separate computer, unless they're extremely protected and are extremely computer efficient.

That makes sense, it's just more confusing to me now as to how some people have gained access to white listed servers

No one to date has done that. Only when Gaia didn't employ the aforementioned security measures.
