Comp help

So i have a compac laptop and yesterday i finished a essay and i went to my living room to print it keep in mind that my laptop is like 5% battery life so the screen just turns off not the whole laptop but the screen and i keep turning on and off the laptop but the screen is always shuting off durning start up.

Im thinking i should recharge or let my laptop die then recharge.
What do you guys think?

It doesnt even turn off the screen completely it just darkens it and i even try to turn up the brightness but that doesnt work any help?
