Starters Guide to Learning Guitar?

I wanna start learning how to play guitar...thinkin' of pickin' up a cheap guitar and playin' that for the time being...sounds good or no?

Definitely.
Try learning "Leavin' on a Jetplane". It's easy.

Good idea. Cheap guitar = $200+
Don't buy anything in a box & try as many as you could and make sure the neck feels good in your hand.

Also: It is not instantaneous. You will hate your guitar before you get good.

If you practice right (15 minutes of scales, 10 minutes of chords, 30 minutes of songs a day is how I practiced), the following will happen:
Your fingertips will be rubbed raw.
Every joint in your hand will hurt.
Your thumb will get sore, fast.
