Favorite Programming Language?

Currently in my Intro to Engineering Systems class, we are learning MATLAB programming and we are starting to build GUIs and whatnot using it...It's relatively easy, reminds me of using Visual Basic back in high school to make programs. I'm about to start teaching myself Cocoa whenever I get time to do so. I feel like making some mobile apps and shit. Also, next year I get to take way more programming courses, which I cannot wait for! So, discuss...favorite programming languages and why?

Sidenote: Cocoa sucks dick because it is the ugliest programming language I've ever seen in my fucking life.

I've only known 2. I started VB freshman year and learned java sophomore year high school. I guess I like java better because I still remember some.

I don't remember most of the VIsual Basic I learned, so hopefully I can remember it whenever we do this MATLAB GUI stuff, cause it seems similar.

:x We never got to the GUI stuff in Java...my teacher made us do ACSL drills 24/7 so we had no time to do fun stuff.

That sucks...I was ahead of most people in my Visual Basic class, though I never really liked it. We weren't allowed to do any web based programming either, so I didn't ever learn how to use HTTP wrappers and all of that...oh well. I think I may learn how to do that either this semester or next semester.

I personally like C# and PHP. Honestly if you know C#, PHP, or Java, you basically know any other OOP based programming language. I got back into Java which is exactly like both of them except more of a pain in the ass. C# and PHP are by far my favorite though.

Yeah, I am pretty sure I start to take C# or C++ next year.

Never learn a programming language by school. Honestly, most teachers hardly even know what they are talking about and always teach you the bad habits to programming and the relatively easy stuff that you can learn within 5 minutes of reading a tutorial. It's best to self learn.

Haha, I don't really have a choice of whether or not I learn it by school. It is required as a major for me to take programming class, and I have a shitload of programming classes to take. I am a Computer Engineering major. So it's all good, besides...I go to the #18 University in the United States, I think I'll be fine.
